It is kinda crazy if you think about...We have a 50% percent chance of beating Boston, and if we do, then we have a 50% chance of beating Tampa Bay. - PatC80

Melnyk is a complete clown. He makes Ballard look good as an owner and that is sayin something!
Not too surprised on Babs saying that. Walk back the comments, that is to be expected. Will see what is what there in time.
As for the roster next year, should prove interesting to see what they go ahead and do, and not just with the defence. Everyone seems to also forget the cap should rise the next couple years, esp with expansion revenue pouring in for Seattle.
8 more games then we will see what kind of heart and soul our team has. Playoffs anything can and does happen and that always includes upsets and surprises.
Too much doom and gloom. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Remember it wasnt that long ago it really was that ugly 18 wheeler off a cliff tire fire like Ottawa is now. |

the few prospect people I follow who watch the Marlies are not that high on Liljegren right now, and his progression is not what you hope this season.
I doubt he is promoted for next season - senstroll
I watch a lot of Marlies games. Liljegren, when healthy, has been really good. And him and Rosen play very well together.
I'd be shocked if he isn't on the roster next season (or at least heavily considered/late cut). Again, if healthy. |

If they had another goalie with a .915-920 save %, they'd be fine. You can say that about a lot of teams.
Freddie is no superstar goalie. - RogerRoeper
These are the goalies who have a save percentage over .915 and have appeared in 40 or more games (in descending order):
Ben Bishop
Andrei Vasilevskiy
Thomas Greiss
Robin Lehner
Darcy Kuemper
Frederik Andersen
Matt Murray
Tuukka Rask
Carey Price
John Gibson
Pekka Rinne
Now, Lehner and Greiss are products of Trotz bringing defense back into the fold on the Island and getting a team to buy-in.
There's a lot of names in that list are star-to-superstar calibre. It's hard to deny that Andersen has earned his kudos.

Toronto 50% chance.
Why call it anything other than 50/50 at this point? |

Guys, I watched some Dubas clips. He hates Pridham. There is a rift in the front office over which analytics to use and salary cap structure. I can tell by the look in his eyes. |

Winning a championship in the NHL (and a lot of other team sports) is a funny thing. Rarely does the team that looked the best in the regular season actually win it all (sorry Tampa).
It's all about getting hot at the right time and riding that wave of momentum as long as you can. Never underestimate the power of big mo'.
The Leafs, as good as their roster is on paper, imo, have no where near reached their potential...yet. If they can get by Boston in round one (which they almost did last year without Tavares, Muzzin, and Kadri for a few games) they are going to have the monkey off their back and can play a lot less uptight.
Stanley Cup winning teams save their best hockey for the playoffs. The Leafs have yet to play their best hockey. - poopstash
Matthews needs to be a beast in that series.

If the Leafs choke against Boston, we will all be back where we started.
I like the Leaf rebuild. Think the signing of Tavares will become highly problematic.
But, if Leafs get past the Bruins we will certainly be able to endorse the Leaf rebuild as a success.
Melnyk is right in only one small point. Leaf fans have suffered far longer with much uglier outcomes than Sens fans have had to endure. I think the point he is trying to channel is Leaf fans have been loyal during the atrocious last half century and he is hoping Sens fans will allow him a few years for the rebuild. - spatso

The sky is falling the sky is falling the sky is..... wait it isn't?! Wait our hated rival isn't as bad as we want to make out and the media sensationalizes?!?! Well crap!
Melnyk is a complete moron in clown shoes who should put the mic down and step away and stop cutting his own legs out from under him. This farce of an owner really just needs to go. I've never seen an owner sabotage himself as much as Melnyk and no amount of deflection trying to start something with Toronto will change that. |
