I'd keep Sekera as he's a dominant 3LD and could still step back up and become strong 2LD option in the likely event of injuries. His 5.5 is a big pill, but at least he's a positive influence on the team. Lucic is priority #1 with Russell as #2 in my opinion. - MaximumBone
I’m one that is opposed to a buyout for Lucic due to there will be no savings at the end of it all....I would on the other hand as you suggested look into eating salary on a possible 3 team deal....just seems to be it might be easier to shave 9.5 off as opposed to moving the 6 million dollar man....we will see how this group screws it up

Fenton seems pretty high on Spurgeon from what I’ve read, but I agree that he’s exactly the sort of defender we need.
I’m guessing he’ll be asking 6.5/7 mill for his next deal. That might be tricky to squeeze in. - Wildschwein
As he should be. He's a high-quality top pairing RD that outperforms his opposition in virtually every metric. Sure, he's 29 but this fanbase needs to stop treating all players that are over the age of 27 as if they're on the verge of retirement. We need that age group of players to provide the stability and consistency that youthful energy and inexperience simply can't. A top-4 of Klefbom, Spurgeon, Larsson and Sekera (Jones, Samorukov, Bouchard and Byram on the horizon) is one that can really support a shallow forward corps as we wait for reinforcements to arrive. |

This actually amuses me

I’m only saying Sekera because the two together make 9.5 mil and we need to clear cap.....be easier to move those two then it is to move Lucic and his 6 mil.....Ottawa could bite on Russell as they will be trying to hit the cap floor in the off season and if (frank)face didn’t have a NMC he could have been moved there possibly - RatedR80
Valid.
I wonder if Lucic could be compelled to waive via benching his ass? |

I mean, it would save us SOME money; just not very much. 2.3 the first year, 300k the second, 1.3 the next and 300k the last one. |

Age doesn’t matter as long as they can still produce as far as I see it.....Pierre Chiarella will be named the new GM and Byram will be traded in the classic 1 for 1

Well that would require us to bench him hasn’t happened all season and won’t either

I know Sean touched on some of this earlier but we might need a new POHO before we even worry about a new GM - RatedR80
Jesus (frank)ing Christ. That’s worse than when Devellano came out and publicaly denounced Mantha as a major disappointment at age 19-20. |

I just hate the idea I mean we are still on the hook over a million to Pouliot.....I fear the only hope is to hang on for one more season and pray the CBA gods bless us with those magical buyouts again

Looks like Nicholshart is trying his best to reinforce Edmonton's image as a place no one should want to play in. Something in the water, indeed... he's one of the ones poisoning it. |

(frank) the lockout. Come up with solutions now and, if a magic buyout becomes available, Lucic's new team will still probably use it on him and we'd be free of our segment, too. He's not even worth 2mil for the last 2 years of his contract at his current rate of production. |

I can’t believe some of the stuff I read today....I thought these meetings were supposed to be damage control? One person asked why Katz couldn’t be bothered to attend to address his loyal ticket holders and Bobby went off stating there would be no team in Edmonton if not for Katz.....whoever thier PR person is needs to have a sit down with him and explain the concept of how to address situations

So then we need two willing teams.....maybe an Ottawa/Boston combo would make the most sense.....we shop him to Ottawa and retain then they ship him to Boston and retain....us and Boston sens picks/prospects to make it worth thier while since they are rebuilding

Yep. Has nothing to do with the person who hired Chiarelli and kept all the good ol’ boys, eh, Bob?
Rieder (frank)ed you all over. Next Bob will say Ference’s pro gay aura he left behind has ruined the team’s showering, hence lacking the cohesion to play well together. |

Yeah I would say his meeting was a disaster between that and his defending Katz who couldn’t be bothered to show and other fun things |
