I highly doubt they’ll use their first round pick - Just5
I'd be ok with that. Snag a young NHL quality player ready to go. |

Agreed. I think it will he on the trade market with other assets for a veteran top pairing dman that fits thier core. I dont know who that it is but its thier most immediate need.
Another top 9 C at a minimum, potentially another top 9 W are the others depending how much faith they have in Laughton and Hartman. Whether Ghost is here next season also seems to be a question mark.

I'm ok with that. Probably could use a shoot first type winger too. They need a goal scorer not in the stand in front of the net mold. |

Trading for a legitimate top pairing defenseman is going to be very expensive. I hope they don't do that. |

Why is Hägg always the odd man out? It wasn’t long until Coburn became the perfect compliment to Timonen at a young age. I would go with what we have. |

Back in 2009, a 34-year-old Chris Pronger with 1 year remaining before a 35+ contract had to be signed cost a top-6 winger, our top young defenseman, and 2 1st rounders. Granted, Chris Pronger wasn't your average top-pairing defenseman.
So, if we want a veteran but younger top-pair defenseman, I'm thinking the package, assuming Provorov and Hart are truly untouchable, is around:
Sanheim
Either Konecny + Ratcliffe or Frost + 1st
2 1sts
That probably gets you CLOSE. It's a lot, but since there's no team that NEEDS to trade a top-pair defender, you'll have to overpay to acquire the most sought-after commodity in the game. |

So I'm stuck in a conference call about an engineering team Kaizen ("continuous imporovement") event. The only thing getting me through it is the Macho Man Randy Savage rap album. |

Somewhere in that ball park unless some GM is overcome with incompetence. Which is why it's foolish for the Flyers to do so. Add a lesser veteran in free agency for a few years in the right deal. Continue to develop your own top pairing defenseman. |

Its meaningless to lose games at the point. At most we will fall maybe one or 2 spots. That isnt going to make a difference draft wise. Might as well win and end the season on a high note. Need a big game from Hart tonight for my Fantasy team - xShoot4WarAmpsx
losing a few more games can be the difference between Seth Jones and Morin |

Good stuff. As it pertains to this conversation, do you guys consider Trouba a bona fide top pairing Dman? That is, do you think he would cost as much as you laid out in your post? I don't think he would be thaaaat expensive. Costly for sure. |

No, but I think he COULD be a guy who plays on the right side of a top pair. Basically, very good 2nd pair anchor, good top-pair compliment. I think his cost would be significantly less.
He's a guy I'd target hard. |

Me too.
Basically, when it comes to improving the Flyers via trade, I'm starting with the rosters that are already in cap trouble, or on their way there due to good young players needing contracts. I just figure that maybe a better deal could be had with those teams. |

Well it's gonna be hard to rob a team for pennies on the dollar, you still will have to offer a good return. Trouba, assuming you could talk about an extension prior to the trade, is a player I'd do a Ghost-centric trade for. |

You’ve gotta walk before you run. I wouldn’t add anything to the defense. Divide Mac and role with what we’ve got. Myers hasn’t seen a full season and Provorov can be better. |

They lack speed but to me it doesnt even look like they try to win races. In the Montreal game I saw many times in the D zone where the dman just glides into the corner while the Habs player is skating full out. Lack of compete is concerning. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Not all replying to you, also other posts -
welp, that is usually the design for the dmen when its an arrive at the same time battle. I absolutely agree the team needs more speed but i think the puck possession issue, in my opinion, isn't about speed as much as moving the puck well. lastly, remember when people wanted to trade Couturier when his offensive game didn't click right away? Yeah, not trading Patrick unless it was a just simply cannot refuse type trade that won't happen. give the kid time
OH and Laughton, while not speedy, is not slow either. |
