It’s an interesting statement. It’s difficult to try and compare sports. The only other player I can think of right now that could be in the conversation would be halladay. Downright dominant especially after the first inning when he tended to get in some trouble. Once he got past that he was a near lock to pitch 6-7 more innings of shutout baseball.

When he gets to a championship he’ll pass Iverson. Iverson took a bunch of scrubs to the finals himself.

His team was
An old Mutombo
Eric snow
Aaron McKie
Matt Geiger
Todd McCollough
Theo Ratcliffe
Tyrone Hill
George Lynch

Halladay and TO are the other two that are in the conversation. Halladay can go tit-for-tat and I wouldnt have a problem if he was your answer

Ill take Embiid over Iverson 110 times out of 100

Those guys did everything that makes a team win. Iverson was an unbelievable scorer but he didnt affect the game on both sides of the court the way Embiid does

Iverson has 3 straight steals titles in his career man. I’m guessing you didn’t watch a lot of his time in the NBA. He was dominant in all aspects of the game. He also was usually the smallest guy on the court.

Im the same age as Iverson, I watched his entire career. I will admit I have a personal bias against him and outweigh his negatives over his positives but when comparing how Embiid affects a game vs AI, im taking Embiid

Then you should know he did have that impact on both sides of the court. He certainly didn’t get the rebounds Joel gets. It’s tough to compare Guard to a massive Center but Iverson no matter who the opponent was or how behind we were, you always knew there was a chance he’d get us the win. Don’t get me wrong either I love the hell out of Embiid and always will, he’s the man. Why the bias against Iverson?

I didnt say he didnt impact. As a 6 foot guard, he cant impact the defensive side that a 7'2" bigman can. On top of that, a 7'2" bigman that can move to the top of the key that can D-up guards. Look, I get Iverson love, I simply dont like the guy like many people do. In my opinion, Ill take the dominant Bigman over the electric guard

Giroux has more than a few years left as a top player in my opinion. Provided he doesn't have any serious injuries, he has a good 5 years remaining as a top player.
- MJL

I didn’t say he wouldn’t be a top player in a few years. I said in a few years he’d be moving into a more pp specialist. And that it’s time to lessen his 5v5 time now. I have zero interest in g being our best player in 2-3 years. Epic fail if that happens. If you can get a panarin or point or Marner or whatever young stud better do it. Hell I’d argue coots is best player on team now. Time to prepare to overturn this roster again. At least partially

Made the Coots point the other day. He is the best center on the team and the forward we can least afford to lose. It would be nice to see one more quality forward on the team though.

I would also say a prime Jason Peters. He gave up nothing on the left side and was a filthy combo of athleticism and mauling strength in the run/screen game. No weaknesses.

Saying a player is going to become a PP specialist is the same thing as saying he won't be a top player. I disagree completely that it's time to lessen his 5v5 time. If he still is, calling it an epic fail if he maintains his level of play doesn't make much sense. Overturning this roster means adding to Giroux.

If they do this who is the 1st line LW? Him or G? G isn't getting moved back to center so someone's ice time is going to go down and I don't think Panarin is signing somewhere to play on the 2nd line. Not to mention JVR getting pushed down to line 3 when he's been one of our best goal scorers this year.

If they're going to spend in FA I think I'd rather a center or vet D man. Not the sexy pick but it's what they need.

- hereticpride

This maybe late but Giroux started his career on RW, he could finish it there.

Panarin-Couturier-Giroux
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Frost-Konecny
?????-Laughton-Hartman

I would be ok with that line-up.

I would like a guy like Kassian to slot in on that 4th line. He has a year left, don't know what it would take to get him out of Edmonton. The Flyers need some grit up front.

Hard pass. I don't want slow prodding forwards. I want speed and quickness throughout the lineup.

I have no issue with a 4th line that can grind and play D. Laughton and Hartman aren't slouches with skating. Adding a grit guy isn't a bad idea, especially if he is the 13th forward that can switch out with a young guy.

If that grit guy skates well like Laughton and Hartman, then fine. My point obviously wouldnt disclude similar players. Kassian is not that.

When we have a 4th line with Laughton, Hartman and maybe a Kase like player, the should have a real good 4 line team

Hope some young guys play well in the AHL playoffs

I can see any of these guys making the team next season. I'm guessing 2 spots will be available to be won or lost in camp. Either 3rd line center or 2 wing spots.

Frost-C/W
Farabee -LW
Voroboyov -C/W
Rubtsov -C/W
Kase -RW
Aube-Kubel -RW
Ratcliffe- LW
Laberge- C/W

In addition to veterans like Bailey, Varone, Knight, or Vecchione,
