McDavid is the best offensively-talented player in the league right now (sorry Kucherov).
But if I need one player to win a Game 7, at the moment, give me Crosby. - jmatchett383

10.) I know they are going to do something in free agency. They are raising ticket prices and renovating the arena, so they know they have to do something. I want someone to fill either the 2C role if Nolan Patrick isn't up to it or the 3C role if Nolan Patrick flips the switch this offseason. They fill that role, their fourth line falls into place nicely. - johndewar
They spend to the limit already. That 17% increase in ticket prices is paying for all the new razzle dazzle that sells nothing to me. I don't care about wider concourses or city views. And I wonder where they'll find people to pay $250 a game to sit behind the penalty box. But that money isn't going into players. |

Yeah, but to make people stomach those ticket increases and paying for the razzle dazzle, they can't trot this same lineup out there. They will almost certainly have to do something in the free agent market to create at least SOME sort of buzz for the actual on ice product for this franchise and almost definitely have to hire a new coach. If all they can offer me as a STH is a KEWL NEW MASCOT and wider concourses, that's bad. |

If they do this who is the 1st line LW? Him or G? G isn't getting moved back to center so someone's ice time is going to go down and I don't think Panarin is signing somewhere to play on the 2nd line. Not to mention JVR getting pushed down to line 3 when he's been one of our best goal scorers this year.
If they're going to spend in FA I think I'd rather a center or vet D man. Not the sexy pick but it's what they need. |

At least we can finally put the Philly connection to bed. The people who believed that were are annoying as Leaf fans. |

Also, on the Mcdavid/Crosby. This guy just fired out 3 100 point seasons in a row, saying you'd take Crosby over him is a little absurd at the moment. Mcdavid is the best player in the league, hands down. - ClaudeFather
Until McDavid does what Crosby has done multiple times which is lead his team to victory in the biggest games, then he is not hands down the best player in the league. That title still belongs to Crosby. There is another contender in Kucherov who may take over that mantle before McDavid.

I don't disagree with you about need but there is plenty of ice time to go around to add a player like Panarin. Having two lines good enough to be considered a top line would be a pretty good thing.

We need one more winger and a center. Winger needs to be top 9. Center can be fourth line if Patrick handles 2c all year. Laughton has done a nice job at 3c this year. I like our home grown and developing D. Now a better 3c and a winger gives us a strong 4th line. LWs are G, JVR, and Lindblom. RWs are Jake, TK, new guy, Hartman. Centers, Coots, Patrick, new guy, Laughton. 4LW can filter someone in from AHL. Maybe Frost starts on the third line. Still have Misha, Rubstov and Kase in the system. |

Toronto deployed jvr perfectly last year on a 3rd line that saw heavy ozone starts. Jvr would be fine in that role with us while getting top pp time. Panarin will fit in this lineup. G can also play the right side. They do however occupy the same spot on the pp.

So we have a monster 2 PP. Panarin, Patrick, TK, Sanhiem and Linblom. |

Top 9...top 2 lines roughly 19 minutes each 3 line roughly 16. There really isn’t much difference top 2 lines. Pp personnel is where time differences a little. Jvr should be on 3 line 5v5. G workload lessened a good thing 5v5. In a few years he’ll be moving into more of a pp specialist roll anyways

Giroux has more than a few years left as a top player in my opinion. Provided he doesn't have any serious injuries, he has a good 5 years remaining as a top player.

Honestly my Christmas list for the offseason is to bring in Q and sign Panarin. That is all assuming those two can coexist together.
They can shop for a top tier Dman, but I would not move any kids for one, picks yes. Another year of growth and rebound of Provy and Ghost and this is a completely different team next year. |

Nothing wrong with acknowledging Crosby's talent. If he wouldn't of whined so damn much when he came into the league, If NBC didn't shove him down our collective throats, and Pierre didn't fellate him 24/7 he wouldn't face such hatred - corduroy
I personally don’t believe Crosby deserves the two Conn Smyth’s he has. During the 2017 Stanley Cup Final, Crosby wasn’t the best player on either side of the puck, Penguin or Shark. Matt Murray, Phil Kessel, Logan Couture had 11 more points than Crosby when the cup was handed out.
I’m sure McDavid would do pretty well playing with the same support Crosby has had his entire career. |

Kessel should have gotten that one. You can make a case for Murray stealing the show for the entire play off. Crosby was a distant third. They don't make the finals with out those two playing out of their minds. |

If they feel G can produce long term at RW I'd certainly consider it.
I wouldn't be shocked however if they sidestep the big ticket FA market and look to move some assets to acquire young NHL ready talent. |

Watching the Sixers game and I want to know why that old dude is always walking around and waiving his towel on the court side?
Dude is obviously just a fan but man it's annoying. |
