Correct, and once youve played for 1 country internationally, you are required to represent that country ongoing.
Dual citizen, Canadian boy who played for the USA. - chompsey
That’s not 100% accurate. There are international transfer forms, which are costly, that players who have dual citizenship can file to switch sides. Hockey Canada now requires all players playing in the minor hockey program (in Canada) to sign a transfer form from their country or origin. HC “pays” for it but I’m told switching back would be expensive. I thought it was a joke when my son was 6, playing Novice hockey and had to sign a freaking transfer form, but they wouldn’t let him on the ice without it. |

Although Trottier played for Canada and the US. - Reubenkincade
Ya, youre right he did. Maybe the rules were different when Trottier did it?
Petr Nedved played for Canada/Czech Republic
Peter Stastny played for Canada/Slovakia/Czechslovakia
Im sure there are more examples. Rule of thumb has always been that you play with the team that you first played International with.
See Tyler Myers.... |

Playing longer doesn’t make you better. When their careers sre both done Kane will have eclipsed. Hull is the only one close. Imo he was pretty one dimesional, didnt dominate single handedly like kane. - neem55
“playing longer” where did you get that I insinuated because he’s played longer he’s better? He’s better because he played a harder position, Bob Gainey convinced him to sacrifice offensively for the betterment of the team, to be the hunter, not the hunted, which he did.
Maybe when Kane’s career is over he might be considered better, but at this point, for me, Modano is still better. |

you're right. modano was a much more complete player than kane. he could play in any situation and had the size/grit that kane doesn't.
however, for me, it comes down to pure skill. if i were to pick one or the other to build around, i'd go with kane. his talent, offense and most of all his ability to pick up his play when the games become important is just better in my opinion. |

Patrick Kane is more skilled, no question, for me Mike Modano was a better player though. Semantics really, they were/are both fantastic players. |

I think HC want to make sure that any kid playing hockey in Canada is “theirs” just in case they turn out to be really talented. |

Brett Hull could have gone and played with Canada, but he felt a loyalty to the US team as they were the ones who let him play when Canada turned him down. |

Team Canada also treated his father poorly when he defected to Winnipeg, his words during an interview, which weighed on his decision. |

Never liked Hull. What a rat.
More importantly, when does everyone think Hughes debuts? Want to make sure I’m at the game. My guess is Tuesday but hoping it’s sooner |

Big win tonight and only 4 points back of a playoff spot.😍
What a mediocre league this has become. |

Playing Right Side with Edler would be great. He is being evaluated today if cleared he can play any time. |

But he hasn’t practised...he will need at least one full practice first and they won’t play him back to back? Maybe he debuts Sunday. Only game I can’t go to 🤬 |

Not sure when he will get his first start. I think the delay was as much about the expansion draft as the injury. When he came to Vancouver airport there was no limp at all.
Sunday sounds about right. |

Can't imagine he'll play many minutes in his debut while players green trusts are there. Maybe wait a few games |

Well because, as youve implied, another 4 years and it sounds like you will change your tune. Madano was great for sure, imo the torch has been passed and if Matthews/Eichel stay healthy they will both have a crack at being as good |

Listening to the Doors while driving the other day and was thinking some of their songs would not be acceptable today. 'Take it as it Comes' definitely would not be appropriate in today's climate... or is it weather??? |
