If you want roses and garbage, just go to any Pittsburgh media site lol - j.boyd919
Even though I unsubbed, I still get emails from DK and he just came out with an article titled “Earth to Phil” that I can only assume is about his “bad play”. Lots of people on this board would probably do great over there if it wasn’t behind a paywall. |

If he was playing in a bottom pairing role I would have been fine. I'm not saying you per-se, but the people have been so critical of him are being unfair IMO. He, in no way ever, should be playing on a 1st pair. All things considered I think he played admirably given the fact he shouldn't have been playing there.
It could have been a lot worse. - Rinosaur
Yeah, I agree. I mean when Letang, Dumo, Maatta, and Ruh are all out he's basically the #10 defenseman on the depth chart. I thought he was adequate but his weaknesses started to show as he played more. For the most part the whole team did a good job with all those guys out. |

It was three sentences and a correct observation. Pretty sure you just came here to complain. Go, then. There are other blogs than these. - Victoro311
I see....No. I don’t come here just to complain, but since you apparently are the new Sherrif in town...SMH |

That's awesome, I think Sid wins it this year. And that cilantro thing is crazy I had never heard of that. Unfortunate. |

I don’t know man. I don’t have any one stat to trot it out, but he just has not been consistently good. Even strength I know a lot of it is always going to be unfairly measured whether the shots simply go in or not, but by and large he’s been painful on the powerplay outside of the one exchange with Crosby that connected last week. |

I definitely agree that he hasn’t been playing a complete game to the best of his ability, but even on this “down” year he’s still at PPG. Given that I think the proportion of the blame he’s received from a section of the fan base has been disproportional to the share he actually deserves. If things aren’t going that great for the team and your main go to guys for blame are PPG players (Phil and Geno), you’re probably looking at the wrong thing. |

Cilantro with lime is OK. However on it's own it smells and tastes like dirty socks.

I agree with this 100%, but Phil and Geno both have games within the same week where you see not only guys that can change a game with no issue but you can also wonder if they even rolled out of bed that day at all.

Don’t get me wrong. Phil is a stud. However, through that lens, he’s gonna be held to a higher standard obviously. The credit and blame is going to be relative. Malkin had stretches early in the year where he full on carried the team at even strength. I can acknowledge that while simultaneously being aware when he has a week long mental lapse on the powerplay which shuts down entire games. There’s a chasm of separation between “Phil’s passiveness has been going on for the last five or six games and is aborting the powerplay” and “this guy is soft let’s trade him and inexplicably try to replace 70 points from the lineup for less than 7 mil in cap hit”.

Walked out of the room and both scored. Was the first one credited to JJ? And then Guentzel ties it. |
