I don't follow the Primyeah League. - jmatchett383
Yeah I didn't think about that. I was just focusing on the big 4. Wouldn't surprise me to see Man United shell out a billion to the next Rinaldo. |

I'm not sure about first game, but it seems like we always get burned. It's either a player mired in a long goal drought or an ex Flyer that burns us. - cdearth23
Okay then. Who was the last ex-Flyers who burned us?
I agree it happened for a number of years, but the only ex-Flyers who scored on us that I can think of this season are Jeff Carter and Brayden Schenn, and we won the LA game. |

I'd rather have skill than physicality. Pittsburgh and Washington have won the last 3 Cups, and the toughest defenseman they had among those 3 squads was an over-the-hill, seldom-used Brooks Orpik. - jmatchett383
Being physical isn’t all Hägg, Morin and Gudas are. Of course you need a mix of skills to fill all the roles. It’s one of the reasons I don’t really like the Hägg - Gudas pairing, but they have made it work many times. They can both move the puck and both have a good shot. The reason I referenced Hagg’s age is because he is still improving his game.
As far as Morin goes, I love him. Hope he surprises everyone. |

What's wrong with hoping our in-house prior first round pick in Morin is better than Hagg? Wouldn't that be a good thing if he is? Hagg is a fine 5-6 but i just hope Morin pushes him out, his game is limited. - ClaudeFather
You’re hoping Morin will push Hägg our?? I think the writing is on the wall for a Mac buyout. No need to force anyone out. |

I don't know. If I were to choose the players I'd like to suit up the best team that I can. I believe that Gudas is better than Hagg regardless of the salary. - RustyPipes
You can’t trade Gudas while banking on Morin who seems to be rarely healthy. |

It's realistic that Morin can be better than Hagg, all 5 better than Provorov..... - ClaudeFather
I don’t think it’s realistic. Not impossible but I won’t go as far as saying it’s realistic that Morin will be better than Hägg. Hägg and Sanheim have already beaten Morin for roster spots. |

They have Gudas under contract for next season. They don’t have to decide this until summer 2020.

No need to buy him out, just waive him if need be. They have more than enough cap space. |

It will all be moot anyway when we lose Hagg to Seattle in the expansion draft. - MBFlyerfan
Another considerable possibility. |

I think that, while still relatively young, there isn't much more to see with Hagg. Maybe a slight upgrade, but he's pretty much what he's gonna be. |

I’m hoping for a buyout. I don’t even want even a breeze of wind to remind our management staff that he’s an available option. |

Well that's fine, but if they want to bury him and use his a an 8D, I'm okay with it, plus no cap hit 2 years from now.
Also, if they retain 50%, they can probably find a trading partner if they wanted to. |

They did, maybe not Ricci. Ben Eager obviously had a huge one. But really, it hasn't happened much lately. |

You could do a lot worse for a #7 than AMac at $2.5M for one year. |

I’m with you on splitting Gudas and Hägg. My dream pairs would be Provorov/Myers, Sanheim/Gudas, Hägg/Ghost.
I wouldn’t write off Hägg as a player who cannot offers more. |

Maybe this is what I see differently. Hägg doesn’t improve as quickly as say Myers or Sanheim but if you compare Hägg now to Hägg a year ago, you will see the improvement. I think we could see more improvement by next summer.

I just see Hagg as a physical, defensively-oriented player who plays a good positional game and has some minor deficiency at moving the puck out of the zone. I think he could be better, but I don't see him ever having the puck skills or offensive IQ required to be more than a 5/6.
I hope he proves me wrong. |

During the 2004 playoffs with Tampa, as well at other stops in Pittsburgh and NYR. He was frustrating. |

I like Haag as a player but I'm in agreement with hoping Morin surpasses him. I want the player in the role as a physical defensive defenseman to be better in his own end than Haag is. To be a stalwart on the PK.
