And for quitting..OReilly was moved. Correctly. He quit, i dont blame him, he needed to go for quitting, hw was senr away....

I mever once said OReilly should have stayed. I said i domt blame him for quitting. But he had to go.

So of Skinner gets one goal im hia final 25 games...i domt have a problem if he goes as well.

You're better than this.

I'm really not.

Also most offensive players peak around age 23-24 and begin to decline around 29-30.

OK here is my lane....Skinner has scored one goal in 14 games when the season was in balance...when we needed him most he didn't produce. PERIOD!! Seeing that he has scored at times before...its probably not a talent issue....but ...if he "works harder than any player on the ice" (WHICH I NEVER SAID)….then whats the problem??

Here is my lane....I would NEVER EVER EVER pay Jeff Skinner a penny over 7m/yr. The team he WAS on..never made the playoffs...and as soon as he LEFT..they are. The team he is on NOW ...got ONE GOAL out of him in the most critical stretch of the season (14 games)

So whether its talent, effort, or an extended stretch of Diarreah…..when he was needed most...he DID NOT DELIVER AT ALL!!! NOT AT ALL...ONE GOAL!!!

So if my lane is this...if it costs more than 7m/yr....I say...let him walk

There...that's my lane...

You're entitled to your lane.

Good thing it's not your money, eh? He's going to get paid. Hopefully less than that, but he's going to get paid, whether it's by us or another team.

And if Botts doesn't keep him, he better have a plan B, like a Huberdeau.

So let me ask you this. The 3 OT winners he has and 7 GWG just don't count. so take 7 wins off the sabres total, we are not even talking about playoffs at the "most important time of the year" if Skinner does not have the start he did.

More than a bit. There are a lot of issues there.
- Aetherial

I don't know if Housley has the capacity get his team to take advantage of those issues...being at home helps, but it may not be enough

Nah, just that it will be eventually, right? And the longer the term of the contract, the more likely you'll find that point.

Personally I'd look to give him more up front on a shorter term (Like 8.5 per for 4 years) rather than $7 million for 8. More cost today, but less risk, and you can probably still move him at the end of that deal if he starts to slip around age 31.

- BINGO!

word on the street is that term is the hang-up right now...botts most definitely thinking along those lines...as for the $7m mark, I think that ship has sailed...stone at $9.5m just raised skinners aav, not quite that high but, imo, into the area around $9m...hope i'm wrong

Their defense is a disaster....and these are the years the big guns are on the cheap.

That team has some big decisions ahead....those 4 big money forwards and no defense...

yeah "bro"...a goal during the playoff race, "chief", IS more valuable that a goal scored in say, the third week of the season, "Champ"...

again so Skinners 7 Game winning goals don't count because they all came before the last 14 games...

So wins only count the last 1/4 of the season? So you can lose every game but if you win the last 20 you are good? I don't know about that logic.

Why does Danny Briere get idolized in this town when a player like Vanek is the butt of jokes??

Could the fact that Briere scored bigger goals at bigger times have anything to do with it???

exactly....

Ok...so if he hasnt quit, which is clear he has....but let's say he hasnt...one goal in 14 is the best he can do? Those are Okposo numbers. I still wouldn't pay him over 7 a year. Not one nickel

even the best NHL players all go through slumps throughout an 82 game season; a slump is not the same as giving up.

For 9m/yr that hes asking...

I think "what have you done for me lately" is a VERY valid question...

hey...if youre not bothered that, with the season in the balance, he decoded to disappear, that's a decision you can only make for yourself.
