Hawks are 70.2% probability to beat the Canucks tonight. Vancouver on the 2nd of a back to back.

And, The Athletic has ARI getting the final spot with 88 points. So the Hawks need to get to 88 and let the ROW decide it, or get to 89.

- scottak

Hawks need the Athletic to be wrong about the Hawks projection, and right about the AZ?

I know there was some lamenting among the faithful that Stan didn't spend more of the Cap space freed up by trading Hossa last summer ... but, that $4.5M in cap space will ensure that bonuses will not dip into the 2019/20 cap.

I am fine with him being patient. Nothing worse than being up against the cap with a crappy team.

Also. Just ignore the Preds clown, guys. Gotta be smarter than that dolt. Responding to him is exactly what he craves.

Keep your heads in the game, FFS.

Absolutely correct.

Of course I respond to you.

No, but looking at the numbers, whomever gets the last slot will likely be at 88. With the current standings, results, and remaining schedule, the algorithm says it's ARI.

Of course, the projections will change after tonight's games.

From The Athletic's Playoff Projector:

The projections are based on 50,000 simulations of the remainder of the season, which factors in each team's projected strength, current health, and their strength of schedule (which includes opponent strength, venue and rest).

Regardless of the current posted status of odds, the Hawks have a lot of it in their own hands.

Phoenix 4 roadies in a row, starting tonight in Tampa. Not easy sledi

Colorado, it is as simple as sweeping both of those games. You do that and your odds increase dramatically. If Hawks handle their business, next weeks game vs Ari is a 4 point game.

Arizona has been as hot as Hawks, if not more, lets see how it plays out. I like our shot.

The fun of it is that, if we can get at least 3 of 4 points before the weekend, what they learned from that first playoff weekend with Colorado and Dallas last month...

Biggest thing is that those are projections, and are therefore not the real target.

To use a Crib analogy- hope you finish in the Sh%thole. Love the fact you are playing yourself out of a good draft pick. Let the decades of Mediocrity begin

Under that logic, the 'real' target is to win all 11 games. However, even if they do, they might not get in.

What they need to do is pass enough teams to come in 8th. The Athletic believes they'll need 89 to do so. Which means.....nothing. Could be they end up needing 92. Or 87.

Trashville has 20 years of "mediocrity", 0 Cups, Plenty of Participation Trophies.
- EnzoD

I believe last year, to begin the season, Trashville raised banners as the previous years stanley cup loosers and some other far reaching banner for mediocrity
Proud to say in the past decade, we have seen our Blackhawks raise not one ... not two but THREE STANLEY CUP CHAMPION banners at the start of the season. We don't have to reach for some mediocre accomplishments. Yeah ... check your hand ... how many stanley cup rings can you find keep looking

The numbers suggest too tough to make it in, so for me it's how well the team plays in the last 11 games and win or lose what players rise to the occasion. I assume they are going to ice their best team every night which also means Crow playing most of the games, no more experimenting with defence pairs and putting Hayden with Toews and things like that.

Historically it's usually around 90.....

Arizona has 5 of next 6 on the road including trip up and down east coast

Hawks need to win all their games at home, and beat LA and ARZ and they end up at 89.....

I would disagree about Highmore not being fiesty. He isn't big but he is a pest. Does a bit different than being physical. He uses his speed and smarts to hound guys.

He and Kampf played with Edsjell in the AHL playoffs last year. Kampf and Highmore were constantly causing havoc in front of the net and Edsjell was cleaning up.

- Elbows15

I actually agree with your definition of feisty and think Highmore fits it. My definition was too stereotypical, i.e. in your face with a mean streak. Don't think that is necessarily needed.

I like your definition better and would love for Highmore to compete for a spot on the 4th line this fall. He has the acumen and compete level.

Some club's banners would cover the goal crease while another club's banners would cover the whole ice. WGAF, whatever. But it's always gives me a giggle when it's the goal crease club fan being a mouthpiece.

8th seed in the West the past few years.

2018 - 95 points
2017 - 94
2016 - 87
2015 - 99
2014 - 91.

Pretty spread out. Glad it's not the past couple of years.
