But none of the three red sweaters were covering between the white sweaters and Crawford - Toews was above, Kane was outside - where nothing was going to happen - cautiously moving toward Horvat.

Too late.

Actually Kane was just watching in astonishment!

Just catching up here .Sure it was a tough disappointing loss ,but moved up a point . Lot hand ringing and dumping on players . I don't get it team playing top hockey since the new year ,not going to win every game . They have had a couple bad periods over the string and a lousy OT last night ,but for the most part good hockey .
I think Keith had abad game last night ,and believe Kane is fighting something showed him on the bench against Montreal look sore .
Nobody I guess expected the HAWKS to be chasing Playoff spot this late ,and some don't want them to be .But they are ,and it fun watching games that count . Little luck they get in ,and the HAWKS have played well against their foe in the Central .Like to see this team in the playoff as a big underdog

Did clearly see that nice stickwork by Forsling last nite to prevent an easy goal. Maybe you're on to something. Hope so.

Well, then, maybe some of the old country atmosphere had some benefits back in the day?

Yes, and trend this year is for the core + Saad to be no-shows. Few exceptions, obviously.

Thanks for the informative response. Haven't heard this plainly throughout the year.

That makes him Mr. Green, right? He's still too young, and needs seasoning and strength?

Interesting part of an article on the Ducks from The Athletic. Their GAA average dropped from 3.25 under Carlyle to 2.27 under Murray (through March 14). They implemented a zone defense.

The greatest change has been on the back end. There was the trade of Brandon Montour for Brendan Guhle, but the bigger development is the installation of more of a zone concept on defense. Players who were told to pursue their assigned man wherever he went on the ice have now focused more on a given area in their zone. Pursuit is fine if the assigned player remains in the area. But if that man leaves, the assignment is handed off to the teammate responsible for the traveled-to area.

Basketball and hockey are completely different, but the zone concept isn’t terribly dissimilar, with five players in action. No, the Ducks aren’t playing a 2-3 matchup zone or a triangle-and-two or box-and-one. But we’ll let Cam Fowler explain the switch from their man-to-man.

When we get spread out, teams have just been able to take advantage of that,” Fowler said. “If you watch hockey nowadays, the best defensive teams, they got five guys right in front of the net. And if the puck goes to the point, we’re able to flex out on that. But if we have guys inside the house as they call it, it makes it (harder).

“(It’s still) aggressive. We don’t want to sit back and let them make plays. If there’s loose pucks, we’re going. But the biggest thing is we have layers and we’re trusting one another. If something happens and we get beat, they’ve got to go through two, three, four more of our guys to get to the net. And that’s been a big change, instead of getting spread out like we were when we were giving up five, six goals a night.”

Seems to make a lot of sense on paper. Hawks will have to adjust to a new scheme next year, won't they? Hope they don't double down on this year's model. Fool me once......

I don't think anyone can beat the bolts in a 7 game series...maybe the bruins give them a huge fight in the second round

The bolts look to finish with 60 plus wins, approach 130, a goal differential of +100, 1st in goals scored, top 2 in pk and pp, 4th in fewest goals allowed, only 4 OTL losses, they have identical home and road records...

who the hell is going to beat them 4 of 7...

- bogiedoc

Bruins will handle them. With the caveat that the B' are healthy.

Actually a lot went on today. I observed at a high school today for 40 hours that I have to clock ... bomb threat. Also a fight broke out after the lock down was over.

Wow, you assume I agree with JC’s quote, although I said nothing either way. Talk about projecting!

I could be posting JC’s positive comment on Kruger to anger up all the posters that want Kruger drawn and quartered.

- scottak

Just not on the team is fine by me. There is no doubt Kruger was a huge part of winning 2 Cups so I don't want any harm to come to him.

Can never question his effort. He gives everything he has every shift.

Sounds like an eventful day. Just to show you how times have changed. Back in the glory days, the Spring tradition at the HS I attended was a steady stream of bomb threats.

We would have to evacuate the school once every two hours. Course, there was no caller ID. No one was even remotely concerned about it being real.

Nowadays? I imagine its pretty tense.

I think the Jets are built to possibly beat them in a 7 game series, maybe Flames?

Makes zero sense to me, aside from the logic that teams like Chicago, LA, Pitt are bad for business when the league is trying to make it seem that "every team" has a shot until the very end. When you have 8 the last 11 cups being won by those three teams, I could see why they think it's bad for business. Hawks are a huge money maker for them though... not sure why they would have a problem with that.
- frafra

Pretty much makes zero sense to everyone with one notable exception.

Yeah, a lot different. Not allowed to leave the classroom and supposed to be silent with all windows covered. We weren't tense as we didn't know what it was. The teacher I'm partnered with showed me the staff-wide email briefly talking about the problem.

We did have to do nuclear drills. Line up in the hallways and put your head down in your lap.

I guess so you could kiss your own ass goodbye if it was real.

On a par with jumping into your bathtub in the path of a killer tornado. Great. Could never get out of the SOB again, or end up in the next county. Lovely options.

I was going to say "kiss your own ass goodbye." Hahahaha! Warped minds think alike. Yeah, drills have changed a lot. Too much poop in the world today.
