Not now...but in the long run, G may produce at a high level for longer at wing. I don’t see anything wrong with those 4 as centers next season. However, it will depend on who else is in the mix then. At some point, both G and Laughton might be moved to wing because they produce more offensively there. - NC Flyers Fan
You can’t push a scorer like JvR down the line up and that’s what happened when Giroux saw wing time this season. You keep JvR up, playing with the core talent and you might get 40 goals out of him. Playing JvR with Laughton, Weal, Hartman etc was always a mistake. |

Yet JVR has been on a tear and G is still on the wing.
I think you would hope for some one a little more creative for 3c. G is the 1lw, now and in the future.
BTW, when G was moved to center he hit a dry spell. Back to wing, points again. If you expect him to continue to be productive, niw and in the future, you want him on the wing and off the PK. |

On which line did JVR have all that success in Toronto? |

Giroux has gone back and fourth between center and wing and produced well in both spots. His production been inconsistent in recent games on wing. Giroux has played well at both positions this season. |

JvR has been attached to the hip with Tyler Bozak in most of his career as a Leaf. So JvR had a consistent and familiar line mate in Toronto. Yes, they were considered the third line last season but the duo were also considered the first line for along time before last season. Not the same situation. |

Personally, I think JVR could be paired with Patrick. Call that whatever line number you want. As a matter of fact, isn’t that where he is right now and with G, no less.

I think Giroux is more effective with his blade opened up on the left side vs. right. Maybe that is just my eyeball test, but his playmaking prowess seems to shine most when he can take advantage of his forehand to all points of the ice vs. needing to make more backhand moves from the right...or twist into less natural positions/diminishing his ability to bluff shoot vs. pass. |

He can still do the right effectively. However, I would very much like to see...

I kinda am in favor of JVR - Patrick - Konecny, I feel like theyve played together for a very little bit and feel like that would be a very nice second line
Top line next year i think has to be G - Coots - Hopefully Panarin/Skinner/Et al
And a sick third line of Lindblom - Frost - Voracek.
That's a top 9 that can really do some damage, and then you have a 4th line of: Raffl - Laughton - Hartman, who lets be honest, would be one of the more skilled 4th lines in the league.
