There were reports near the deadline that NJ could trade Taylor Hall.

What would it take?

- ImThatGuy

Let me quote Ray Shero for you.

"So with that in mind, was there any consideration in the Devils front office about shopping Hall at the deadline?"

“Less than f u cking zero,” Shero said. “Zero percent. Someone (in the media) asked me that two weeks before the deadline. Zero chance. Zero. Just to make it clear.”

So, one percent?

That's cause it is. They're doing it before the playoffs, because doing it in the playoffs is (frank)ing dumb

A pathetic organization. Another year lost, nothing to look forward to, and no conceivable end in sight.
Unless 3 more star players magically appear on our doorstep, including one that dwarfs Jack as a player and leader, we will continue to be pitifully bland and below average (at best).

Ownership, management, coaches, players, even the f'ing jerseys! The whole thing is B rate.

It's truly DIFFICULT to be this bad for this long. It takes consistent, conscious effort.
It's all I've ever known and yet somehow... I'm still astonished.

I think they’ll split with the Wings and the Sens but lose the rest.

Absolute dumpster fire.

In case anyone wants to argue it again, Casey's reply when asked about the Eichel hit:

"I feel totally different after I saw the hit because I didn't know he got hit in the head," Nelson said after the Sabres' optional morning skate today. "I don't have the seven camera angles. I was the only one directly behind him so I didn't actually see that he got hit in the head. That's all I'm going to say there. I didn't sleep that night after I saw the video."

Nelson was a healthy scratch Tuesday against Dallas, with coach Phil Housley saying the lack of reaction on the play was discussed with him.

"That's pretty much all I've thought about the past number of days," Nelson said. "There's not a lot I can do about it other than I can tell you that my response wouldn't have been the same if I knew he got hit in the head."

Nelson said he simply saw Eichel on the ice and had no idea what had transpired. Zadorov came in late after a whistle for offsides and hit Eichel high, pulling the Buffalo center's helmet off his head.

"I was looking through three guys too so it's not like I could see everything. It sucks, you know what I mean? There's not a lot I can do," Nelson said. "There's nothing I can do other than I know it will never happen again. It's something I didn't see.

"Everyone makes mistakes. I didn't see it. It's just what happens. I can tell you've probably made a mistake here and there in your life too. That sucks when you have to deal with it."

This is not what I signed up for being a Sabres fan this year. I thought 88 - 92 points, finishing 9th or 10th but showing progress. They are regressing inspite of Dahlin, Eichel, Skinner and Rhino.

If he can stay healthy man he would be a beast

Almost like a Jerry Hughes career resurgence

Hope the Bills land him

Also hope they don't over pay either but I can live with that

The most fun thing about this free agency period is they have added to almost every position there was a huge need for.

It throws off all those mock drafts too!

Beane's management of contracts has been sublime. With Ziggy's injury history, there's no reason we can't offer a 2-3 year deal that's really easy to get out of after year one, like Kroft. But when he's on the field, he's a big upgrade.

pish posh. Beane has no qualms going BPA. And Ziggy is past 30. There's a ton of options at 9, and even a ton of options if he trades down. Find a TE, RB, OL, DL, developmental WR, LB, CB

Hard pass on Metcalf. Hard pass.

The question was..."who was the last ….".....Oates and Ciccerelli played 25 years ago.

So.....to answer the ACTUAL QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED..."who was the LAST undrafted college player to make an IMPACT"....

Ill stay with "Kunitz and Giordano are pretty quality answers"....

if in fact, they were undrafted college players..

the reading comprehension on this page astounds me....

- RippedFuel

No one that is going to make a huge IMPACT goes undrafted anymore, however there can be impactful players who were undrafted

Tyler Bozak
Jay Beagle
Dan Boyle
Alex Burrows
Dan Girardi
Tory Krug
Kevan Miller
David Schlemko
Trevor van Riemsdyk

No huge IMPACT guys you're looking for, but a few Stanley Cup winners in that list. I think undrafted defenseman have a higher success rate due to longer development time.

remember last year we were saying the same thing about Allen? I'll give Beane the benefit of the doubt, he's earned it for now.

Almost all of the mocks have a OT or WR going to Buffalo

If anything it would open the potential of a trade down being more likely

I have to say I am liking what Beane is doing so far

for once, the bills can draft who they want with the first pick, instead of filling a starter in position of need

if white the lb from lsu is there, and they want him, get him
if oliver or another dt they like is there, and they want him, get him
if they want a tackle, get him

if they want metcalf, get him

if they want to trade back to get that te from iowa, or the bama rb, do it

I love the options

It's a great place to be, for once. The only one I don't think, based on the signings, that they're interested in is Metcalf. Rest is pick of the litter.
