For me, just my opinion i prefer:

Hayes
Panarin
Skinner

Before Duchene if we are spending money.

I would really like Hayes so you can get Giroux back to wing and then go down the middle with Couturier, Patrick and Hayes.

- J35Bacher

I think Hayes and Skinner would fit nicely. Panarin will get overpaid big time and not interested in Duchbag at all. If Hayes is not available, Brock Nelson could be a reasonable alternative at only 27 years old.

Why will he get overpaid big time? What's he gonna get $10-$11M, he's worth that.

I wouldn't mind the Flyers going after a 2nd tier free agent versus the top money guys. I'd prefer the Flyers to stay out of the big money UFA scene altogether.

Yeah he’s worth that to somebody. I guess I’m agreeing with MJL. I don’t think the Flyers need to go down that road.

Agree, I like a Raffl but I think they let him walk. At 30+ on the 4th line he is blocking the chance for a young player to show his upside. Maybe as a 13th forward if he can’t get a better contract elsewhere.
- Djapana

His first season was with 24 so the fact 30+ doesn't apply to him.
But I do agree with you it is highly likely that he will walk
Maybe they told him to check with Flyers before he signs somewhere

Somebody will throw stupid money at Kevin Hayes and will end up regretting it.

I don't doubt that someone will overpay Hayes. That's free agency but he is an underrated player.

I wouldn't mind Hayes and Zuccarello at the right term for each. Then just roll with our current D

if you can get Skinner you should overpay within reason and get him. I think he stays in Buff, they will pitch him on what they will do in the off-season to become a contender and that he can play with Jack for years.

I have no hate for Skinner, but before this season, didn’t he have injury issues or concussion problems?

Staying away from the big money UFA scene also keeps you away from the top talent in the league that can be had without trading any assets. Eventually you have to use the cap space you have purposely freed up for an opportunity like this. If Panarin would want to come here, a young, skilled, top line sniper to pair with a Giroux and Coots, and it would take 7 years at 10/10.5 AAV, you gotta do it to push this team from bubble playoff team to legit contender.

That's absolutely true. There is no doubt that adding a player of that caliber will improve the team. I'm not going to state that someone who wants to do that is incorrect. I just think they need to guard against becoming a team that against the cap but isn't good enough and lacks flexibility.

Yes he did, it was the Tampa game Hart got pulled from first not Washington

👍🏽👍🏽. Really wish they would have gone Elliot in the Montreal game and then Hart in the stadium series game. Unless Hart got his injury in the Tampa game

Translation: Flyers with Homer.

Agreed. Don't spend to the cap just to spend to the cap and don't hand out more then 2 NMCs on the entire team.

According to what I think I read in Bill's blob today Hart got injured in the practice before the Montreal game and tried to play through it.

My hope is that Fletcher knows what fits on the team and only targets that player...For example if he feels that elite scoring ability in Panarin is what the team needs he just goes all in on the one player...and doesn't pander to spend the cap space to just get new toys that the average WIP fan base will start cheering for...We will still have to pay our young guys at some point...I think he needs to go big on the parts he can't trade for or grow...and avoid middling for some things that might help or make the team a little better but not fill the holes...Hexy had the same problem, just just struck out and guys went in other directions as the Flyers were just not close enough to being competitive.

Ahh, thanks! I miss details like that in the blog so much 😑. Hart must’ve been taking a note out of Simmer’s playbook 🤭😂

And of course, I hated to be that team, always against the cap, no room for in season moves, etc etc. However, even with all of our RFA's, even with Patrick next year, and signing some of our depth guys, making a big signing in the area of 10+ mil AAV, is something we can afford and also wouldn't put us in that much of cap hell, as they say.

With where G, Jake, and Coots are in their careers, in their prime, slightly towards the end, adding a guy like Panarin, in addition to our defense and now Carter Hart, this is the perfect time to add a guy like that
