Why is it ignorant to point out that the chance of scoring is different on a high danger chance than on a wrist shot from the point. You are the one who compared the 2 as equals, not me.
Just because I'm being petty and whiny, doesn't mean I'm not correct. |

Yeah it was actually awesome. Sid put his arm around Ovi and they had a little chat with both of them smiling. "
That was cool, I saw that... then 5 seconds later the camera pans across the ice and Wilson is running around like a 3 year old who just lost his soother. |

things have been gud between them since '17 ASG. And Sid is Sid. I remember when he also approached MSL prior to one of the playoff games.
The Malkin-Ovi thing also died down a few years ago, although I do miss it when both hated each other's guts (league prob wishes it would come back). Ovi's missed check that sent him to the boards is still one of my fave memories from the two teams' meetings. |

there's a couple of individuals on here who as recently as a year ago (a cup shouldn't change their mind, but lets hope it has), who would argue that ovi is not even worthy of being in the top 10 goal scorers of all-time, let alone top 2/3/5. I member I got into it with a flames fan who said as of 2017, Dino and Shanahan were > Ovechkin. - DeflatedPucks
wow that is ridiculous |

I wish the NHL had a shorter season and forced more games to matter. Last night was great but id say at least 1/2 the season is a snoozefest. Never picks up until after the ASG. |

I can go back and look but I'm pretty sure it was Feds91Stammer yesterday, when I said what are the chances of McCann scoring on a breakaway, and he posted McCann's shooting percent on the season. If you want to deny, I can go back and look. Maybe it was someone else. |

I'm not whining. I just pointed out a fact. If you think those are routine saves, you must be one heck of a goaltender. All the power to you man.
- bochangs
Guentzel goal had an 11.9% chance of going in.
McCann goal had a 13.4% chance of going in.

Ovi is THE greatest goal scorer of all time. - j.boyd919
Based off ability to score goals (without regard for other skills, i.e. passing and giving equal consideration for longevity and peak-ability and ignoring (frank)ers from before 67), my top 5:
(1) Ovechkin
(2) Gretzky
(3) Lemieux
(4) Esposito
(5) Hull
Hon: Bossy, Bure |

It says the odds of scoring from that location/angle based on some kind of history I'm guessing, but it doesn't seem concerned with the difference between it being a breakaway, a one timer, or a shot with a defensemen in your face, etc. So is the chance still 13.4% if it's empty net?
You guys and your advanced stats.
I think the best goaltenders ever in the shootout (maybe MA Fleury) have save percentages of like 70%. That means most players score 30% of the time on a breakaway against the best of the best.
You need to think. |

Solid list ... I put Teemu before Espo and Hull simply for playing on a terrible expansion team and still filling it.
Plus his rookie season is top 3 ever for pure goal scoring.

Don't remember the exact quote from Grant Fuhr but he said Bossy had the best shot he ever faced. That was back when goalies gave the five hole and took away the short side.

was he on crack when he said this?
jk, bossy was solid. I think he's top 10 worthy but I find him to be severely overrated when I see lists put him in the top 3. I feel Esposito, granted played with another one of the GOATs, is really underrated. |
