While I'm not one big on the "deterrent" type player, I don't recall any shenanigans from Wilson after getting tackled by Gudbrandson. I dunno, from what I saw, this might be one of the few times it worked.

One thing I will never understand is why other people think it’s a cardinal sin if you choose to enjoy both positive possession metrics and the “Tom Wilson stuff”? Gudbranson has good game in shot chances; awesome. Gudbranson blows up Wilson in the corner and gets rough with him to the delight of many fans ( and Guentzel ); equally awesome! Both of these things existed in the same game. I guess I missed the rule book quote that said you must choose...
- Brayn

Can't say I like the "Tom Wilson stuff" at all, that knuckle-dragger needs to be thrown from the league, but solid hitters and even Reaves/Buf type "fighters" are fine. I have no problem at all with physical hockey, I hate the Wilson/Torres/Cooke level crap and even what Horny does after the whistles...just play hockey (which includes hitting).

As someone said above I do think Wilson was genuinely shocked someone came back at him...

I'll say it now, I was wrong at least thus far about Gud...he's played solid and hasn't been what I expected, and I'm quite happy about that. The fact the Pens finally have someone who can flat out destroy that POS Wilson will make these games enjoyable, as it will decrease the cheap shots (hopefully) while allowing two teams with a ton of skill to flourish.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to again say thanks for Spronger. Kid is a sniper and building confidence daily.
12G in 37 games and only 21. For whatever reason it didnt work in Pittsburgh it’s been a blessing for us. Marcus seems like a good fit, trade worked out for both of us.

Oh for sure. I’ve been wrong about him too. He’s exceeded my expectations ten fold since coming to Pittsburgh. Hopefully he can keep it up. He’s rocking a 73.94% hdcf at the moment Hahaah he’s built himself a nice pad.

Caps should have won, but Holtby let him a few goals he should have had and the bounces didn't go their way.

There’s no such thing as “should have won” in sports. You either win or lose based on how you perform.

I said this previously, but when good teams play it’s game of mistakes and the caps not only made more, they didn’t defend well against the Pens in their own zone. The Caps allowed more quality chances.

Holtby made some outstanding saves, but Murray made more.

Pretty simple.

I love how when goalies come up big to help win a game that it somehow diminishes the team’s victory as if goalies are just some arbitrary position.

Ahhh gotcha.

He should fret not. He’ll forget all about it when they beat the leafs in round one.

I have a buddy that gave up smoking like 20 years ago. Every once in a while he'll have a butt and you can literally see the pure pleasure on his face with every drag.

Bashing Sutter is like that for RW.

McCann only had a 12.4% chance of scoring on that empty net, because that is his shooting percentage on the season.

I said two weeks ago the things I would be looking at were:
1) Injuries
2) Play in front of the net
3) Power Play opportunities

1) We have had one injury in the past two weeks.
2) HDCA was 8.7 per game; now is 6.0 per game.
3) We went from 2.7 PP per game to 3.5

Not saying Gudbranson is the sole reason for this, that is silly in any team sport. What I am saying is deterrence isn't about one thing and one thing only. To just put blinders on and say, in a violent sport no less, well he didn't deter one thing out there is just as silly.

Yeah it was actually awesome. Sid put his arm around Ovi and they had a little chat with both of them smiling.

there's a couple of individuals on here who as recently as a year ago (a cup shouldn't change their mind, but lets hope it has), who would argue that ovi is not even worthy of being in the top 10 goal scorers of all-time, let alone top 2/3/5. I member I got into it with a flames fan who said as of 2017, Dino and Shanahan were > Ovechkin.
