Is it safe to say McCann is Rust 2.0 for this team? Perhaps a little better?
- Barnaby36

Very similar to what Rust brings. Maybe not the most talented, but fills the gaps with pure effort and energy.

My god the Caps are good at picking off 80mph passes from 4 feet away.

Bjugstad has been playing well too. Doesn’t have a ton of tangible results but he’s noticeable out there.

Wow guentzel and Crosby almost had another one.

When teams want to play you tight on the forecheck then flipping pucks and creating foot races is a great way to create offense. Glad to see Sullivan utilizing it more and more in the game plan. Go Pens

Trotman, Wilson, Blandisi.... we have a few guys who wouldn't be missed if suspended.

McCann is the second coming of Dupuis imo but like most younger players these days he has more skill

I think he's playing really well. I loved Sully's comments the other night about the addition of Bjug and McCann. He said they've embraced whatever role we've given them. I don't know if it was a direct shot at Brass, but it sure sounded like it.

It's almost like they read your comments a few weeks ago on this strategy. They've been doing it ever since and it's worked.

If only they traded for someone like Gudbranson who can deter his antics and go after him. Oh wait...

I like Bjugstad's play also. When Rust comes back we will have three solid lines, no matter how they shake out.

Yeah if that was Geno lots of people would've been all over him haha. But I was thinking the same thing. But it's all good just get it back.

Yeah, the difference is how they react after a mistake. I'd say Sid has paid it back.

Thanks but it’s not like I invented it or anything; that’s just what you do as a coach. What’s working vs what’s not and how can you improve on it. On the reverse side, obviously flipping pucks out is a terrible strategy against a neutral zone trap lol

But I did elude to the fact that Martin and Sullivan talked about it earlier in the year but they didn’t utilize it enough. So is that the coaches problem for not harping on them enough? Or is it the players fault for not utilizing it enough? Idk but obviously when we can relieve that pressure we’re a whole other team

Could be a huge night if the Pens hold on. The Bruins are within a goal now after being down a lot.

I don’t think they’re super similar beyond that they’re fast. McCann obviously has better hands and a better shot where as Rust is the better grinder.
