I can agree with Rexy on that assessment. Maurice is now the second longest serving coach, only Cooper has him beat, and what does the Jets have to show for it, but one second round game 7 victory.

You bring back essentially the whole team from last year and yet the defense and goaltending has fallen apart, and we've not seen any improvement in the offense supplied by any of the young wingers even though scoring has jumped this year in the nhl.

Can't disagree with this assessment. Not sure how this team looks so poor compared to last years team. Every night seems to be an adventure

Yet it was Trouba who was out for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goal scored by San Jose

I gotta agree with Rexy here. Scheifele, as talked about before, seems to always get a pass on the criticism. 2 goals in his last 37 games on the PP, that is brutal for a #1 stud centre. He has tons of skill, but as I mentioned before, he REFUSES to go to the front of the net - no screens and not 1 goal by deflection this year! His positioning on the 5-3 PP the other night was laughable.

Wheeler keeps trying to set-up Laine with a 20-foot cross-ice pass & nobody in front, what's the point of that? So frustrating to watch. How about getting some traffic in front & set up a quick pass just to change the angle? But hey, I'm not a professional coach what would I or any other fan know?

I also agree that Niku needs to replace Trouba on the PP. On the topic of Trouba, I was a huge fan, but I haven't liked his game since the concussion last year, he's not playing physical at all - he's making a lot of 'business decisions' out there (thinking about his next contract).

This team has so much potential, they need a new voice! The desperation to trade for Hendy pretty much confirms that Mo can't get through to them anymore.

Meh. Super tough stretch of games here against the elite in the NHL.

You can blame Ehlers for that last goal if you want to but he had Connor and Kulikov behind him. Connor gets beat down the ice by Pavelski with a 5 foot head start. Kulikov lets a cross ice pass happen.

If the pass makes it through maybe we win the game with seconds left instead of lose it.

I really like the Jets game since the Vegas game even though it included a loss to Minni (colapse in the last minute), Loss to Sharks (in the last minute), Loss to Caps where they just couldn't score, and a loss to tampa bay which everyone saw coming.

Jets are 3 and 3 in March against all playoff teams. Game 7 against Boston tomorrow. Lets see if we win the series.

Nope, we're making the Finals.

If we meet Tampa, we lose in 6. Any other team, we win in 5-6.

Was at game last night - what struck me is Sharks are an attack team and Jets are a possession team ... intent, anyways

The PP is missing Byfuglien - an awful lot ... the team is missing JoMo - an awful lot

The tieing 4th Jets goal - Myers makes a couple beauty moves holding the blueline, sending 2 Sharks back into zone, snaps er and Perrault makes the tip ... BTW - "Mrs Perrault" and the rest of the gals were sitting right in front of us - no work-out time missing there, I assure you !

Sharks winning goal - I can live with "Ehlers shouldn't be making the cross-ice pass" but why the h_ll did Kuli not drop to the ice to prevent the pass from Meier to Pavelski ?!? ... happened right in front of us - come on, man !

Scheifs has been on autopilot for awhile - a good chunk of the season ... yet he was producing more, before ... some nights not sure what to make of Wheels ... the idea that the line is dropping in play since Laine joined intrigues me ... I posted before that he always plays better with a new line ... then drops off ... pattern

Net net: I really thought we played alright, overall - Sharks are a h_lluva team ... I will reserve judgment on our late season form after the Bruins and Flames games ... tough run

Hoping we hold onto the chance of playing in the first round - just lucky every other team on our side is playing as inconsistent as the Jets

I also noted the same thing on one of the three goals that Trouba was on the ice. I think it was the Sharks third goal by Nyquist . The shot from the right side of the slot. Trouba standing right in front of him could have easily dropped and blocked the shot or dove and deflected it away with his stick....standard stuff for any competent defenseman. I just shook my head at his lack of effort there. A guy like Tanev or heck, even Hendricks would not have let that puck get through. Not a chance.

Since Trouba is taking a beating I’ll point out that Myers was standing stil in the offensive corner making no attempt to get back to his position on the game winning goal.
I’ll also point out Myers was on the ice for both goals against the caps and looked like as* out there
For the record, I’m starting to think this team may have to move on from both Trouba and Myers.

Myers also had a glorious opportunity to put us a head and couldn’t raise the puck.

Watching Blackhawks/Leafs, and can't avoid a Petan comment. I always thought Maurice completely mishandled this talented goal scorer, but tonight I saw the glaring weakness in his defensive zone coverage that led directly to 2 goals and contributed to a defensive collapse that resulted in a 3rd. Sometimes, I'm not as smart as I may think I am😉......

Sadly I saw it to, was not a good night for a guy that is playing on a short leash

Yes. Make that three of us on Petan.

I really do miss Lemieux though. I thought the kid had some really good potential to be a very solid third line player for us down the road. He had all the requirements, Speed, finesse, worth ethic, good in corners, and could score. He hasn't let up on the Rangers either with 5 points in 8 games. Viscous elbow last night though.

As for Ehlers. He's been playing well but here is his comment from last nights game....

"It’s a stupid play. You’ve got eight seconds left. To try and force that through (where it) hasn’t been going through all game?" Get that puck to the net, get a rebound, maybe you get it in," he said, answering his own question. "That’s a much better option, obviously. I think that last pass I tried to do there was just kind of how the night went for me, trying to force things and trying to make plays that weren’t there."

We all kinda knew that trade was bad for him. I had hope. It was always gonna be a one villain for another scenario with Babcock

Its not Petan. The guilty parties are Maurice and Babcock? Surely there must have been some Jr coaches who screwed him over too, no?!?!

Wasn't sure why the Leafs traded for Petan. He is an AHL player.

Nope. He was a mega-star in junior

You do know that the number of Jr stars who flame out in the NHL FAR exceeds the number who make it, right?

Without the information on hand, I can tell you you are incredibly wrong.
The number of high level misses that get publicity is far higher than the number of stars that end up mid tier players, however.

He was the second round draft pick who put up a lot of points in the dub. He is also undersized and not particularly fast. He could get away with forcing passes in the junior and in the AHL but not in the NHL. I don’t think this is gonna work for him
