Correct, need skill, speed and scoring off the rush. Flyers have JVR and other players who crash the net for goals.
This won’t be popular but JVR IS HAVING A GOOD SEASON - wcorvette
I have no problem with this (and I agree!). |

Taking their damn time with this Voracek decision - arichardson22
Still figuring out how to penalize him with more games since he had the audacity to call BS. |

It's a forgone conclusion that the decision was made when the meeting ended. They are just not rushing to announce he's still suspended because the game isn't until tomorrow. |

Carts never consistently went to the dirty areas until he left Philly. He loved that skate down the right side and hit the goalie in the crest move though.
He missed on a few huge opportunities against Fleury and the Pens in the playoffs. I still have a hard time forgiving him for those. |

He scored 181 meaningless goals including 38 game winning goals and even leading the league one season in GW goals while he was in Philly. All meaningless. |

His signature shot was skate down right boards and wrist it wide so it wrapped all the way out of the zone |

I had no expectations of Bettman overturning that suspension, but the fact it even got this point is ridiculous.

(frank) off Bettman - arichardson22
I read Bettman's statement that he issued. His description of the hit is accurate. I don't know what the basis for the appeal was but if they were arguing the hit happened differently, that was a mistake. They should've argued that the punishment of two games was excessive when compared to other instances in the league. They should also have argued that Voracek's completely clean record over what 8 years, should count for something as far as intent. 1 game was sufficient. |

So I just read the article indicating that the Flyers are gonna push hard Panarin or Karlsson.
First, no to Karlsson. He is unnecessary here.
As for Panarin, he could help us. There is no question but he Panarin doesn’t solve areas like size, toughness and grit. Panarin doesn’t solve how thin we are in the bottom six. Simmonds for example isn’t doing so well with Nashville by an offensive standpoint. I think any chance of him getting a long term six million dollar deal is dying by the day. I would still take Simmonds but he’ll have to accept lesser money in a lesser role. I think the Flyers should be looking into more size, more grit, no matter what their name is. |

Bettman even mentioned Jake’s impressive clean history/record in his statement! Just absurd.

Clean record. Consider what Malkin got in his intent and attitude towards Raffl both during and after that game in which he was suspended.
You can’t make an argument of it but what if Boychuk hurt Voracek instead? Has anyone ever seen a player attempt a hit but get the worst of it because the target put his hip out? Boychuk hated into Jake. |

If Jake was the one who got hurt....Boychuk would have never been suspended. Beacuse....that's just the way this league works. |

Yep...if only the NHL and the Department of Player Safety were held responsible for their choices like Mr. Voracek and other arbitrarily chosen players who must pay what the luck of the wheel rulings dictates. Today’s decision does not absolve Mr. Bettman of dealing with an ugly internal issue of laughable inconsistentcy in the league’s exercising of supplemental discipline.
The Flyers were absolutely right to appeal. If only...
The hypocrisy of it, is holding others accountable without being accountable yourself. A mark of unworthy leadership. This is not a question of a few mistakes. This is a cancerous growth that only the brainwashed cannot see. |

The appeal was not a mistake. The appeal was about reducing the suspension from 2 games to 1. The rest of Mr. Bettman’s response simply reflects the honesty that Voracek shows in telling his side of the story. Not everyone appreciates honesty, unfortunately. Clearly, fairness was also not a consideration in view of prior rulings.
