Only with the Leafs would we hear that argument. - RogerRoeper
It's exhausting: my Twitter feed is full of Babcock haters, the MSM can't help but adopt that patronizing father tone, we got Leafs haters in Hughson/Simpson calling the games... |

"It is a troubling trend that the Leafs nearly folded late in the third after blowing a two-goal lead to Vancouver on Wednesday"
Trend? Get out of here, MiB. We lost 1 game. We're 33-0-1 when leading after 2 periods ffs. - gravyface
I was gonna say. It's not a trend at all. What's the opposite of a trend? An anamoly. |

True. He whistles a ton of shots up high past the goalie’s head and off the glass. Hit the damn net. - Dr. Leaf
This love affair with Kap will end. Nylander is better. |

This is what is wrong with the media.
They need to get better at their jobs. Eklund needs to whip them into shape. |

The issue with the media now is it is all about getting readers/listeners/viewers. It's not about real hockey issues anymore. They feel a compliment for the Leafs will not gain attention like negative comments will.

Think it's time to give Nylander back to Matthews. |

'Journalists' are now contract workers who get paid by the article and are judged by how many people click on their article. They have become very good at this, and until the industry changes, they won't. |

Nylander is better but I still think Kap is better than Johnsson, who will fetch a decent return in the offseason.
Heck maybe we can get a Dman off EDM |

If we stop talking about negative pieces they wouldnt have an audience. Stop following the likes of Simmons on Twitter or clicking on any of his articles. |

As I said in the previous thread too. Leafs are top 5 in the league. If they had a better record against sub .500 teams the articles would all be stating its propped up on easy wins. |

If I’m Kap I’m not signing with Edmonton.
A very important aspect people seem to forget about RFA’s.
So no one picks UFA’s to go to Edmonton but RFA’s apparently will love it there?
There are a bunch of NHL players that are on the record for saying it sucks to play in Edmonton. - Santo_44
Meh, no clue if he would.
I dont pretend to know what some nhlers think.
Just an idea for Edmonton |

Eichel phone hearing today. Hope he gets 5 games. Hit was brutal and his attitude in the interview after the game was unbelievable. Not like I hope he's ok, just, it's hockey it's a tough game, it was a hockey play. - winsix
Should be 3 games. Worse than what McJesus did.

If trading one of them has to happen, there's lots of teams that could trade someone better than an Edmonton d-man. |

The sad truth of the matter is that negging works. Even if the world magically decides to ignore Simmons then someone will take his place, so it doesn't really matter. |

I understand what you are saying. The Avalanche were taking runs at him and the Sabres all game without any calls. I do not condone hits to the head at all but Eichel had enough. Just wish the hit was lower and not to the head. |

Good post, and I understand it's frustrating for players with talent like Eichel, McDavid and Matthews to be run continuously. At the end of the day, as a team captain and an elite player, he should be setting an example, both on and off the ice, not crawling in the gutter. The first comment should have been "I hope he's ok" - but it wasn't. Actually Sabres playoff chances are really slim at this point, the team is better off the longer suspension he gets in terms of draft order.

Who would want to trade a decent Dman for a winger? |

Kapanen is not going anywhere, but if you haven't noticed, d-men are not getting the prices that Chiapet was willing to give the Islanders. Teams that probably need to move a d-man or two for more offense after the season is over include:
1) Carolina
2) St Louis
3) Nashville
4) Ducks
5) LA Kings
6) NY Rangers
7) Edmonton

Yep. Makes no sense trading the 2nd fastest skater in the league. After all, isn't that what todays game is built on? |

I would think a lot of those teams would be asking a lot for certain defenders and I don't think we should be shelling out a ton for them...just whatever Johnsson and maybe a second rounder. This list of course will change after July 1st when Karlsson, Gardiner et al. find new homes. |
