Jon Cooper on Marner: "He is as smart a player as this league has not only seen this year, has ever seen ..."

References Hyman goal in Calgary, which was set up by a Marner steal & breakaway; "He knew that play was happening before the d-man did"

Ok. Who's the (frank)ing genius that thought it was a good idea for the Marlies to play at the ACC today?

Already one of the worst ice pads in the league and they think it's a good idea to play the Marlies there in the afternoon and the Leafs there tonight? Idiots.

Anyone who still thinks Hutchinson should be the backup for the Leafs, look at the goal he just gave up.

I’m just going to say it. Marincin has been decent and McQuaid has been poop for CBJ. If Marincin can keep playing average on the 3rd pair he’s okay there.
- Santo_44

It's important to remember that Marincin is playing as sheltered minutes he he can.

Against weak competition, since playing a regular turn on February 28th, Marincin not only has negative Corsi & Scoring chance numbers (45), he is contributing nothing towards generating offense, with an HD% of 35 (but is even in +/-).

Holl has only had 2 games, and been played even less, but has managed positive numbers (granted he is -3 in those 2 games).

I know we espouse watching the games over fancy stats, but the fancy stats show why everyone here is so adverse to Marincin - he isn't really decent. He is ineffective against the weakest of competition.

Hutchinson (and Kaskisuo) is the reason the Marlies lose games. Marlies have arguably the worst goaltending in the AHL.

Sparks is easily better than Hutchinson.

I think its more like, he might be or he might not be. so 50% instead of 100%

in 110 games in the NHL he stopped .908

thats ok, I guess

Martin Marincin brings absolutely nothing. Physically, he's a complete 0 against competition that's even smaller than him. There was one play on Saturday where I said to myself "he made a decent pass" but that's about it, and it wasn't in his own zone.

The only reason I'd say Marincin shouldn't be thrown into a volcano is because the Leafs org. is riddled with injured d-men and don't wanna ruin Liljegren and Sandin with the big club quite yet.

I have never understood, what they see in Marincin.. The dude wasn't good enough to be on the Oilers, the freakin, Oilers.... Why does he keep getting chances here?

How would you know? Has Sparks played any games for the Marlies? I would think since Johnsson, Moore, Goat, Holl, and yes even Marincin not being there hurts them. But if you insist it’s Hutch’s fault that they aren’t a Calder favourite, who am I to argue?

My guess... Good enough to turn Babcock's scowl to a smile.
