I think that’s probably true of every generational shift in sports. I’m not nearly old enough to know, but I’d wager most of a generation railed against the rules changes coming in and how the records wouldn’t be the same.

Reminds me of that (Nike?) golf commercial about the history of the ball, and each new iteration an old man saying it’s ruining the game of golf.

I think technology and knowledge will only make current athletes that much better and the record books in many sports will be challenged

Every record book in every sport has to be taken with a grain of salt. You can’t stop trying to improve the game just to make some scraps of paper more relevant.

There’s people that want to tank, and I can understand where they’re coming from. There’s people who want to be competitive and I can understand where they’re coming from too. What I don’t understand is the people who want to tank and yet get upset when they suck.

No Chance? The guy is playing like a top 10 goalie this season.

Fredrik Anderson a 1st and 2nd

Martin Jones and his 34 games of NHL experience for a late first plus

- manvanfan

Cam Talbot and Keith Kinkaid were both traded for scraps. Maybe you get a decent prospect, don’t think you get more than a 3rd for him.

It doesn’t bug me. It just opens up another avenue for debate. The best discussions have no right or wrong answers.

Cam Talbot and Keith Kinkaid are nowhere near Markstrom in terms of talent.

Gallant might be good, but he's no Green that's for sure.
Looks like you know your coaches

I think where they’re at is where they were intended to be. This year. The previous 4 years though...

Edler is Van's highest scoring defensemen and he is 70th in the league among scoring for defencemen.

Sort it by PPG and exclude dmen who played less than 30 games.

Thanks for the kind words Tiny, not pissed at all, just tired of a certain poster that thinks he’s smarter and likes to be superior or condescending.

I have an opinion like all Canucks fans, but because of my status it seems I shouldn’t be allowed to post my opinions, so I’ll step back and not criticize the coaching staff as that seems to be what a few others resent.

- Makita

It's ok, big mak, I'm in my grown up jammies now, I can take whatever you're laying down even though you're wrong about.... everything!

A lot of the all time greats would't be AHL tenders in 2019

I can see Benning putting the 2020 1st in play with his job on the line. If he puts this team in Ottawa's situation this year, I don't think he'll ever be allowed into this city again

No way in hell does he OS anyone.

- Nucker101

Then he should be relieved of his duties right away. The 2020 draft is gonna be deep. Very deep. 2003/2015.

Ultimate scenario:

Benning swallows his pride and becomes full time amateur scout working with Brackett. Aquaman gives Jimbo the same salary or more to stay on.

A new GM is hired. Holland, Hextall...... whoever. Actual draft picks are acquired. No more, "I love the draft." "I want more picks." "I live for the draft." "the draft is my Xmas."----- yet no 2nds and 3rds are acquired.

Exactly. Majority of us said this was a bottom 5 team now half those same people cry about it and cry for Green or JB's head. It's a rebuild, 1/2 the lineup is AHL. Figure it out!

So we should sack arguably the best drafting GMM weve ever had before a deep draft... ya that seems like the right move
