Big difference, skippy. The Pens employed two character stars who willed their team to victory. They aren't fighters per se, but have intangibles in spades, which no core Leaf player can match (leadership, toughness, character). I also didn't say "all", but don't let facts get in the way of your narrative.

The Dougie/Wendel teams and Sundin teams were reasonable contenders but they weren't right at the top of the wins column or Vegas favourites or anything. Babcock has proven time and again that he doesn't want to employ toughness, or if you want to spew some recent NHL jargon, "heavy" players within his lineup. His coaching history proves as much regardless of his lip-service.

Dubas clearly feels that a team only requires skill.

Both ideologies (actually, they're pretty much one-in-the-same) will show if that way of thinking really works in the playoffs or not.

History have proven, for pretty much over the last 30+ years, that a skill-only based team can't go all the way.

No character and toughness = another first round loss for the leafs if they play Boston or Washington. Good.

Here's the key: Andersen plays much better. He sported a .896 % in the 7 game series last year. All this crap about "Tuffness". If Andersen plays better they beat Boston last year and they are better and deeper this year.

The majority of the core was terrible last year aside from Marner, Marleau and Rielly. If more step-up they can beat Boston
