How old are you? 5?
Have you noticed that the world changes? Some things don’t work like they did in the past?
This is different hockey. And the Pens proved that with their theee cups.
TB is proving it with a dominant season.
Enough with this you can’t win without “toughness” crap. It’s crap.
The Pens did it 3 times. And don’t be one of those tools who say that’s invalid because it proves your point wrong. I love those types of people. - Santo_44
Big difference, skippy. The Pens employed two character stars who willed their team to victory. They aren't fighters per se, but have intangibles in spades, which no core Leaf player can match (leadership, toughness, character). I also didn't say "all", but don't let facts get in the way of your narrative.
BTW, I love "your type" of people as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Babcock doesn’t last his entire contract with the Leafs. He has to give postseason results at some point. Babs got taken to school twice by Trotz this year.
I think it would be a good idea to get Freddy as much rest as possible down the stretch so he’s fresh for the playoff race. Getting home ice advantage isn’t worth having a goalie completely dead when it matters the most. - Pegullaville
I wouldn't be surprised insofar as coaches' average tenure is short, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs have playoff success under Babcock either. The Leafs lost a couple games to the Islanders, not sure if Trotz schooled Babcock or not. I defer to the expert coaching analysts on that one. |

Pfft, the Leafs have more character stars than just two. Lol. Try harder. |

Were you in the dressing room? I’d love to hear who this two “character” folks are.
And more importantly what they said in between intermissions, before and after games to give them that label. I would love to know how you know what the players are like personally.
And yes, you fall under that type of people. “The Pens don’t count because it goes against my argument. Leadership got them the cup. However I have no proof.” |

Islanders won two games in which Garret Sharts was in goal, BFD!, Perhaps Freddie gets the start on April fools day, and a proper ass pounding that would make Toolsie smile will take place.

Two stars with character? Crosby and Malkin ring any bells? Heck, toss in Letang to make it a threesome. Who's a proven winner within the team who can lead them to success? Oh yeah... no one.
And once again I never said what you claim. I simply gave you reasons as to why the Pens were more successful then this pathetic team.
You really do have challenges following.

Babs. Dubas. Tavares. Marner. Matthews. Kadri. Johnsson. Dermott. Rielly. Moore. Hainsey. Probably more if I dig deeper. |

Babcock has proven time and again that he doesn't want to employ toughness, or if you want to spew some recent NHL jargon, "heavy" players within his lineup. His coaching history proves as much regardless of his lip-service.
Dubas clearly feels that a team only requires skill.
Both ideologies (actually, they're pretty much one-in-the-same) will show if that way of thinking really works in the playoffs or not.
History have proven, for pretty much over the last 30+ years, that a skill-only based team can't go all the way.
No character and toughness = another first round loss for the leafs if they play Boston or Washington. Good. - babcockblows

Let me guess, education was not your strong suit. You just called the Leafs pathetic, yet last time I checked, they are fourth overall in the NHL. Shooo Captain Mollusc, your mommy is calling you.

Wait wait wait.
What about when Malkin, Crosby and Letang weren’t proven winners?
When they won their first cup?
And how the (frank) do you know they have character? You know nothing about them other than their stats. Don’t pretend like you do. |

What a surprise! With two of his usual defenders injured and two of the better Marlies defenders also injured, Babs isn't totally comfortable with his bottom pairing. What a shock! Lol.
I think we'll be seeing the Goat as a fixture on the 4th line for a while. I think they missed him last night.
1 blown third period lead and 32 wins when leading is pretty damn good. |
