of course Babcock sucks... all things Leafy suck - that's a given
the question is really do they suck as bad as the Canucks?
Babcock tried an experiment with the fourth line... using the 3 smurfs - it didn't work well even against a middling team like Vancouver. He's said he's not going to use that line that way again.
so what are complaining about Babcock sucking about now? - BorjeFan4Ever
truculence. it's missing. apparently |

In November, most on here were saying the bruins were done.
Well... - Fakepartofme
We've been hearing that for 2-3 seasons now, they just keep winning.

doesn't matter how they won those games... only that they did.
after years and years of watching hockey, what strikes me as fairly obvious but the media completely ignores (particularly now with advanced stats focus)...
is the hot cold factor.... teams go on runs where they are really good or really bad - happens to most teams in waves throughout the season.
for example, Leafs have been what I would call luke warm during the period since the all-star break, which coincides to a large degree with how Matthews has been going (or not).
I also believe that the first round of the playoffs are the toughest, because the officials haven't figured out what they are going to do ... and its tougher to make blatant mistakes as you get farther into the playoffs because of the focus.
if you believe the Bruins can continue to play at that clip... they the Leafs are done for.. otherwise, its a box of chocolates.. - BorjeFan4Ever
I was just regurgitating someone else's thoughts.

Are the Bruin peeking too early? My hope is the Leafs have not peaked yet. This team has another gear... |

Good morning. I don't agree with it, no. I believe Babcock would like a couple more players with character that play with intensity and that probably doesn't align with Dubas's current view of how to build the roster.
Not sure if I referred back to the right "BabcockSucks" guy from last night for my research on this post, but the more talented '18/'19 team is going to finish exactly where the '17/'18 team did with guys like Komarov, Martin and "The Bozek" dressing every night. In the standings and total points. |

I'd be okay with the Leafs reeling off a 15-0-3 stat line at any point now... |

I agree, these games are just to see where the best fit is and obviously to make the PO's by winning enough. The team that just starts to gel before the PO's is the most optimal. |

That's why it is so hard to predict. How will both teams play in game 1?
I know one thing, I don't buy the physicality argument at all. I saw last Spring, Leafs lost in game 7 in the 3rd period with a worse team and majority of their core not playing well. |

New year, who knows what this spring will bring. If the Leafs come out and play to their best or close....they should win. IMO
BUT....we'll need Kadri and Gardiner back at 100%...wouldn't hurt to get Dermott back either...any word on him? |

Sounds like Dermott will be back. He was listed as out 4-6 weeks. At the time of the injury, playoffs start in 6 weeks |

Bruins youngsters doing great indeed.
I think most Leafs fan underestimate the Bruins team still.
McAvoy, Carlo really good young d-man (McAvoy impressed me a lot when I watched him live).
I really like Heinen as well - that's a type of player Leafs need on the third line.
And that 4th line is really dangerous as well (Leafs 4th line will have difficulties with that line for sure). - plantheparade
You think? Not from what I read. I read counltess times everyday from Leaf fans they have no chance in round 1. I think it's other fans underestimating the Leafs. |

I'm giving him 1 more week, if he doesn't score a goal....off to the Marlies. |

I hate this notion and Cassidy had the greatest response when asked if he was nervous about that.
He pretty much said “so what do you want us to do go out and lose a few games? You try and win every game and lately we’ve done exactly that”
Paraphrased, but still great |

It is a great response and he's right. You want to turn around a losing streak, not a hot streak. |

They tried hard last night, but the late game heroics wrecked that strategy of de-peaking. |

The leafs absolutely have a chance in round one. They are a legitimate Stanley cup contender, as are the Bruins. There’s just not enough room for both of us after round 1. I really hate the playoff format. The leafs could catch the flames and you could wind up with the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the league playing each other in the first round.
Then the winner goes and plays #1. It’s so dumb |
