I listened to Auld's take on this last night. I agree with what he is saying even though I'm all for it.

The coaches are not putting their best guy out when clinging to playoff hopes. That is telling the players they have accepted not making it. No push by the coaches. That is the message with no push.

Green was willing to push Markstrom hard af earlier this season... to the point of breaking. Now that urgency is gone. That pretty much sums it up right there. The excuse for pushing hard af was how valuable points were. Now those points are not as important. Auld was an NHLer. He knows what the players are thinking with this decision. Quietly, they will feel let down if this game has soft goaltending.
