All we want are good hockey players that play well and make positive impacts on the ice. Gudbranson is currently playing well, and I think it’s important to give that credit since a lot of us, myself very much included, blasted the trade. I doubt it continues, and regardless of how well he plays I think its gonna cause cap problems moving forward, but for now, I can at least enjoy watching him play on the ice.

Right now mainly the GF is inflated from that 107 PDO when they are paired together. The HDCF goes up with Schultz because of the increase in chances generated. Shots and scoring chances are still terrible.

Sounder hockey by Johnson on his natural side but still incapable of getting out of his own zone when hemmed in and the other team establishes possession leading to the same general amount of scoring chances against. Like I’ve been saying, he’s gone from sub replacement to replacement. It doesn’t deserve accolades, unlike Gudbranson who’s actually been playing well.

He has a seven year sample size of being one of the worst defensemen in the league and he’s too old to be making this ridiculous leap into effectiveness like this, so I fully expect him to crash back down. If it’s not this week, then it’ll probably be next month, and if it somehow lasts through the season it’ll probably be next season like what happened with Daley. But for now I’m just riding this gravey train and hoping something just magically clicked when he got traded here.

Nice to have McCann, Simon, and Rust that can all be pretty damn effective regardless of line and role.
