Massive win.

All the puck support almost brought a fn tear to my eye.

Solid.

Absolutely. This game reminded me of how we won the 2nd cup. Really focused on the details.

Pens played an excellent game. Possession wise it wasn’t great, but telling stats were scoring chances, quality of chances and how they kept CBJ to the perimeter.

Ever since he moved to his natural side he's been pretty solid.

I seen Grudbranson with Dzingel trying to skate by him and it didnt work. I obviously havent seen near as much as him as others but he hasn't looked out of place to me.

Yeah, he actually has. He's not making the constant mistakes that we saw for most of the season. I've been pleasantly surprised with him lately. Hopefully this version of him will last for the stretch run into the playoffs.

Missed the second and third for a date night. Judging by the comments here and the scoreboard reading 3-0 I’d hazard to say we did well? How’d Gudbranson’s first real test go?

Gudbranson was impressive.

Pens had the best team-effort I've seen so far this year. Puck support like crazy, keeping CBJ to the perimeter, creating solid scoring chances and timely goaltending.

It really was a nice "team win". Pens definitely treated it as a playoff game. Blocked a bunch of shots......Crosby, Malkin and Schultz all blocked shots. Backchecked and like you say....kept them on the perimeter.

Cbus is in a really interesting place... They just don't look motivated at all. Spotty effort most of the night. It's almost like they expected the new guys to come in and light things up. You just didn't notice their top guys very often. Bread man who usually rips us up, has been largely mediocre these last two games. Duch made a handful of nice plays, but mostly not very noticeable. Jones....meh. Werensky.....meh. Atkinson....meh.

Pens played a pretty solid defensive game. Gudbranson was solid yet again. There are times when you can tell someone is going to skate around him but he seems to recognize this and limit the opportunity anyways. I like the physicality he brings to the game. Not talking about big open ice hits, but being able to pin guys behind the boards on dump-ins and puck battles against the boards in general. I feel like he's really helping when the forwards come in to get the puck.

JJ had another good game too. No one really mentions it, but I am curious to see how he does come playoff time. I know everyone is keen to have him benched, but I recall a few years ago he was a force for Columbus in our series against them. He had 7 pts. in 6 games that series and has 21 pts. in 23 playoff games. Small sample, but maybe he rises to the occasion with us?

Columbus played a good road game, they slowed the play down, kept the scoring chances to a minimum and got decent goaltending. The Pens reacted with patience and discipline, except when Hornqvist raked McQuaid with a high stick. Even that wasn’t all bad as the officials were looking for a reason to give Columbus a PP after giving the Pens a 5 on 3 earlier.

C-bus took too many penalties, of which I contribute to having Gudbranson. This game didn’t have nearly as much after whistle scrums or big running hits the earlier game had, yet Pittsburgh got six PP’s compared to two last time they played.

No love for Hornquist here? Those first two goals were all him. Only got one assist but neither of those goals happen without him crashing and banging in front of the net. Love that guy.

Amazing to think that sans Letang and Maata the Pens would be playing so we'll defensively. Glad to see some people giving JJ and Gudbransson some credit, they deserve it. I think the blogger lives to complain about these guys and they are doing a nice job of making him look stupid.

This is why it's so hard to judge the Pens D early in the season. When they actually try playing team D they look really good, but they usually don't start playing this way until the final stretch toward the playoffs. Murray with another nice game.

It's a real solid third pair, I've liked Gud he's been super solid. I've hated on JJ this year but he's been better on his natural side. Coaches should have gone away with that earlier this year.

It offends me that the article suggests Pettersson is slow. He is not slow. Maatta, JJ and Goudabronzson is slow.

All we want are good hockey players that play well and make positive impacts on the ice. Gudbranson is currently playing well, and I think it’s important to give that credit since a lot of us, myself very much included, blasted the trade. I doubt it continues, and regardless of how well he plays I think its gonna cause cap problems moving forward, but for now, I can at least enjoy watching him play on the ice.
