If we are looking for a C. Why not explore Kadri in offseason? Couple years left on a friendly contract. Can be the 3rd C IF Patrick is ready but capable #2 as well. Leafs will be looking to shed salary. Might be worth exploring - xShoot4WarAmpsx
A line of Konecny, Kadri, and Hartman might provoke opponents to violence. |

I don't know what to make of Duchene. His fancy numbers don't look that great, but he hasn't exactly been in good team/cultural situations. - johndewar
He's more of a quick strike, off-the-rush, off-puck, shoot-first kinda center.
Not so much a guy that helps you sustain attack. |

See Panarin scares me the same way. I haven't liked how he's handled himself. Makes me think he has some serious personality issues. I'm leery of us chasing him as a FA. I doubt we get him so it's not a huge fear, but he screams primadonna to me. Just my opinion. - FlyersGrace
Absolutely nothing wrong with Panarin apart from being Russian
He simple didn't like being traded to Blue Jackets and wanted to control his own destiny
this time round.Apart from language issues there is zero personality issue at all
If he is a fit for Flyers is a different matter .Provorov is here as only Russian

Yeah, they'd be stepping on each other toes all over the ice, occupying the same space.
If Fletch had a gun to his head, Duchene would actually be a better fit, being LH. |

I'm not a fan of chasing Duchene (or really any of the possible top-tier UFA F's after Stone came off the table), but to put any sort of blame on him for what happened with his teams is a horse poop narrative.
Especially Ottawa.
Duchene isn't the reason why ownership was too cheap to pay Stone/Dzingel/Karlsson, or the reason why Hoffman's GF went psycho, or the reason why they handed Bobby Ryan that stupid contract, or the reason that Craig Anderson got old, or the reason why they hired Guy Boucher, who is kind of a bad coach.
Colorado wasn't much better. Complete poop-show until recently. - Tomahawk
He isnt the whole reason but we cant just ingore the fact that he has been on 3 teams fell apart with him on it. The 2nd part of it is huge. I dont like his attitude. For a team full of youth, i dont want a guy who is going to check out because he disagrees with the coach. He did not set a good example for the young players

Duchene should go trojan horse Tampa or Pittsburgh if he's really that effective. |

So a better version of Konecny that can play center. |

Hopefully its a UFA that is a 2nd line center, and I slot Patrick in at 3rd center for a year or 2. It wont hurt him. I believe Giroux spent 3 seasons at 3rd line center. Then I have Frost move to wing to start his career and can transition to center when a 3rd line spot opens up. That is why Duchene is ideal to me. Next season he can be our 2nd line center, then the following year Patrick maybe slots up to 2nd line and Duchene moves to his wing, while Frost takes over 3rd line center.
2020
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
JVR-Duchene-Voracek
Lindblom-Patrick-Frost
Laughton-Rubtsov/Voroboyov-Hartman
2021
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Duchene-Patrick-Voracek
JVR-Frost-Lindblom
Farabee-????-????
the ???? can be almost any combination of Hartman, Lindblom, Laughton, Voroboyov, Rubstov, maybe JOB, maybe Allison, maybe Ratcliffe..... Going to have a lot of choices....
At the end of 2021 is the expansion draft so hopefully we can get Seattle to take one of our bigger contracts so we will have room to sign our youngings to bigger deals. One of Voracek, Duchene, or JVR.
This just seems so much more dynamic then if you put Hayes in there. - youarewrong
You made a statement that adding Hayes is not an improvement. With Girous at Wing, Couturier at #1 center and Patrick as the 3C, how is adding Hayes to be 2C not an improvement for the team?

Duchene had very little to do with Ottawa. From what I have heard the players were completely justified in what they were saying. You want to talk about a garbage fire... And at the end of the day he still might post career numbers. You also cant put Columbus on him. Panarin and Bob are one step out the door, and one word....Torts. |

Because I think Hayes and Patrick put up very similar numbers. And I was saying Hayes isn't exactly a 2nd line center IMO. Kind of borderline. Would he be a useful piece to the team, sure. I just dont think he brings enough to the 2nd line for me to consider moving Giroux out of center and having Couturier be 2C. |

Hey may not have had much to do in Ottawa but as a mentor and a veteran he was not portraying a very team first attitude by quitting on the coach and admitting he didn't care. Not sure you would ever hear any of our core veterans like Giroux or Couturier say something like that regardless of how they felt. |

That doesn't make any sense. So if Couturier is 1C and Patrick is 3C, who among the current players in the organization is the 2C? Then ask the question if Hayes is an improvement upon that? Giroux needs to move to the wing no matter what. Couturier is 1C not Hayes. Hayes may want too much money for the player that he is but hat would be a different conversation. Bottom line is that adding Hayes would be a significant upgrade for this team. He's a heavy two way center who can score around 25 goals. |

Adding another top 9 center is good for the team. Hayes is a good player but idk that I want to pay him. I like duchene but again depends on cost. I think brock Nelson fits very well as well. |

My instincts tell me that they dont make the playoffs and that is going to suck what is going to suck more though is waiting for the start of next season.
I truly expect between a full season of Hart, more youth , possible moves that next season we wont be worrying about them needing to win 15 out of 15 games just to have a chance. |

Tankathon confirms flyers move up 13 spots and will pick Jack Hughes at the top spot.
It only took about eleven simulations but it’s gospel. |

My bottom line view on free agency is that all the guys being thrown around on this thread are going to cost a lot. IMO, They're basically all going to get "over-paid" so to speak. That's just the nature of FA. My reason for advocating for Panarin is, if you're going to over pay, why not over-pay the best available player instead of "settling" and over paying a lesser player? These guys are all going to want long term deals.
Panarin is on pace for over 90 pts this season. Generally speaking, That level of offensive production doesn't become available on the open market very often (I'm aware of Tavares). I think the timing is right for this team to take a shot that you rarely even get the opportunity to take. |

During the draft lottery and in disbelief a shocked crowd asks Bettman why they kept redoing the draft lottery Bettman says
“But this one goes to 11”
It was meant to be. |

1st, Farabee & O'Brien to get into the top 3. I won't be shocked if they try to do something like that |

Has Talbot signed a deal that I'm not aware of? - youarewrong
So what was the point of trading a decent young goalie away for Talbot if their intention is not for him to be one of their goalies next season? They just wanted to set that “most goalies to start in a season record”?Now that Elliott played two decent games and hasn’t hurt himself is he back in for next year? |
|
|
|
not so sure it is a slam dunk talbot is the backup next year. Maybe elliot would be cheaper and easier to sign. |
