If Goldobin can play like he has the last 4 or 5 games, all year, then he 100% deserves to be on the team and play in the top 6. I just wouldn't be surprised if he slips again and starts to forget to skate or play defensively tonight or the next game. Kid needs to prove he isn't streaky.

I think that just comes with age and structure. He's only 23. We've been gifted Bo and EP who are so young and defensively responsible. I hope he'll get there, he's looked much more poised of late.

Goldy has generated a ton of offense where Brock and EP have kind of faded away. He really is showing that he can play, i just wouldn't be surprised if he has another blimp in his consistency. Again, I have always thought that Goldobin has high end hockey IQ and is a great play maker, he has all the tools to play in this league, i just want to see him bring it every night instead of 5 in a row, then drop off for 3 or 4.

A couple defensemen, I have been keeping an eye on this year, that might be worth a mid to late round selections

i totally agree.

this is exactly the type of asset that should be built up and given opportunity to succeed/develop over some of the underperforming vets.

i'm not sure that he's a canuck long term but i definitely think that he can be a useful player that can turn into a valuable trading chip if he's not needed (or doesn't fit) here. like you mentioned, his high end hockey IQ combined with the offense should make him a good asset either way.

Dahlin gets closer every game Petey doesn't score

Did you not see the stats sportsnet was showing and the elite company Petey’s in? It’s not just about points but impact made. Petey’s impact has been felt league wide.

Let yourself enjoy the fact that we have a ligitamate superstar on our roster.

it's not going to be unanimous but i'm comfortable saying that EP has it locked. the year long hype by the media doing the historical comparisons sealed it long ago.

I agree with most of this, but, his Hockey IQ is only in the offensive zone, his IQ, in the defensive zone is questionable.
This is where I believe Green has done a decent job of teaching him to be more situational aware.
Now someone like Petterson, he has a very high hockey IQ.

I’m just going off the talking heads on the sports broadcasts. Lots of coverage and hype.
Petey’s got what 56 points compared to Dahlin’s 37. Petey’s leads all rookie categories except plus minus (he’s fourth in that category with plus 14).

It’s as close to a sure thing as it gets for this franchise.

True, but does games played factor into this? EP has played 10 less games on a crap team. The situation they both play under has to factor into it.

i think it's more of a case of opinions being "baked in."

it's just a subjective pick by the media and i think the season long hype campaign has formed a lot of opinions already.

it would take something extraordinary for those opinions to change.

Like the hype train slowing down if EP doesn't pick his scoring up?

He has 11 points in his last 16 games, but only 2 in his last 7. If he doesn't bounce back, and nose dives into the seasons end, I can see them souring on his earlier hype.

Binnington is also making a strong case, but goalies don't often win the Calder

Kesler: I get why fans are mad at me - trust me I hear the boos. I get it as a fan but I knew which way Canucks were going & when you get a taste of 2011, I needed another chance. My career would be unfulfilled if I didn't give myself another crack & we've had 2 chances in ANA

seriously, FCUK this guy!

supposed leader. total bullsh!t. "I needed another chance." "My career." " if I didn't give myself."

i get it that we all look out for ourselves but this quote sums him and his playing career PERFECTLY.

Four best records in the NHL are Tampa, Boston, Calgary and Toronto. Canucks are now 7-3 in 10 games against those teams.

Makes that 0-4 vs. Phoenix so much more painful.

- VANTEL

And 3 of those 7 wins were in the first 2 weeks of the season.
