Vantel is the only Canucks fan that wants Benn
- Retinalz

This is true , but the others here want Schenn . Kettle meet pot . I am not sure we can afford to replace his 0 points though.

I'll be happy with any cheap short term stopgap, just stay away from paying 30+ year olds decent money on 3+ year deals.

But Benning has cap space and his job is on the line. A dangerous combination.

I don't think you need Edler . You finish at the bottom of the league with or without him. He misses a quarter of the schedule.

He takes up all the PP time and does not produce.

He uses up a lot of cap space and will want a NTC.

- VANTEL

Good bye. Part of the problem not the solution. Was nice to see him play his best hockey in 4 years... but a contract year being his most solid season in 5...
Not wanting to sign him based on his contact season performance. Especially that.

I agree, but let's be realistic here. If Edler walks, Benning is opening up Aqua's chequebook

So lets be safe and sign a bad contract because our GM is an idiot

Canucks should be making trades not signing bad UFA contracts.

You need a GM that can trade for a Fabbro or Trouba or Hamilton . You just don't sign the best apple of the rotten apples.

You know what you are getting with Edler... lazy play in non contract seasons... injuries and indifferece.

I'll choose the unknown in a free agent before I choose it to (frank) up deliberately with an Edler signing. It feels like "dont sign a UFA because he could be like Edler". So why sign Edler?

I like this sentiment. If JB cant shake up the d this summer and improve it than he’s failed and deserves to go. I think he’s building well and it takes a lot more time than some have the patience for.

So would I .

Same results year after year. Tanev under contract Hutton coming back Biega signed Stecher signed.

Bring back Edler then the big change over the summer is get rid of Gudbrandson and bring in Schenn . Rebuild complete

I think Myers is worse than Edler and he's going to get a bigger contract. If I was running things, I'd pick neither, but again, that ain't happening.

I'm cool with Gardiner if I had to pick out of those 3.

Because there arent actually that many dmen capable of playing 22-24 minutes in the show and not getting torched. The list is small! We have two guys that can play those type of minutes against top competition. Need two more top4 dmen. I dont mind edler going that much, but then we need 3. Qh i expect to play second pair pretty quickly but you cant rush that process.

I don't know that Benning's job is in trouble. The messages from the organization have been more positive this year than any of the last 3, Pettersson keeps making him look good, and we're about to have a hometown draft, so nice fuzzy feelings there. I doubt firing JB is the top thing on FAs mind right now

Utica Comets are far from stacked. Canucks have had a little success with drafting but it is not as impressive as some think.

Benning is over his head. The longer you hang on to him and Edler the longer the problem remains.

Not this year, but if they tank again next year he's probably gone so that's why this summer is big for him.

Ah i see. Well in that case i hope we play solid hockey down the stretch so he sees our team as almost there and doesn't do anything insane on July 1

Bring back Edler for 2-3 years, bring in two more capable guys. Benn i wouldnt hate, he can play 18-19 minutes it seems. Gardiner would be better. Replacing Edler with Gardiner would be pretty good swap IMO. But then you need two more at least. Dont rush the process.

I don't want Edler Gardiner or Myers. Draft a Dman with your first two picks this year. Don't be afraid of finishing dead last for a year or two.

Hainsey has as many points as Edler and cost half of what Alex 23 does.

preaching to the choir.

I've been begging for this approach for years, enough with the accidental tanks
