Just before people start piling on me, I’m a Jeff Skinner fan and was one of the posters here hoping we’d trade for him this past offseason but I hope we don’t overpay for him. I’d love to have him here but to say he isn’t one dimensional and worth more then $9M a year is false.

And Toronto will then use those 4 picks, which will be destined to be top 10 for the next 4 years to build and incredible team with major contributers on ELCs to surround their multiple elite players.

Buffalo is NOT in a position to OS any superstar this year...a 2nd tier or two...sure. The time to OS a superstar is when the team is truly 1 player away from being a perennial SC contender.

I was a big Vanek fan....but, NO, he wasn't a GREAT goal scorer. He was a above average one.

My personal take on it. I don't want Skinner for more then 5 years at 8 Mil. I also think that there are plenty of GM's out there that will give him 7 @ 9 large.

We need another Center (edit, M.M is a RW my bad), I don't like offer sheets because we lose first round picks, but if there was ever a player that I would offer sheet it would be M.M...

if he scored 3 goals over the last 9 games, they would likely have won 1 maybe 2 more game...depending of course on which game he scored those in. They would still be 5 points out and struggling to win 2 in a row.
Furthermore, I guess at that point he would be worth the $9M ask, since the issue is only that 9 game drought.

I think he will be 30-35 a year with Jack as his center for the first 3-4 years, then you will start to see the drop off in production.
