Swap nylander with jo jo or kap? - Puck-us-all
Hyman JT Marner
Johnsson Matthews Nylander
Marleau Kadri Nylanders replacement next year
4th line

A realist doesn't get a Bonier over a 20 goal scorer who wasn't back checking, wouldn't go into the corners and was invisible in the playoffs. It's early, but we are seeing the reality of the matter come to fruition just like some - not all - the moves of the past that were obviously bad. If you criticize Leaf management it's a hate crime now lol. - aminnes

Oh yes it was. He's a bonafide number 1, he was drafted in the first round, blah blah blah. It was hilarious. Same thing happened when they got Phaneuf. Guys just really believe in Leaf management, can't imagine why. - aminnes
I dont recall many saying he was a bonafide number 1.
I remember people saying (myself included) that he was traded to be the leafs number 1 over reimer and that his stats the first year were better than reimer's.
But I dont recall a love affair.
I recall when his play dropped, most (myself included) wanted both our goalies gone.
I do recall a huge love affair with reimer though. |

We all loved Reimer for awhile there...he was playing awesome though.

Little early to call that a bad move I would think.. not losing a very young highly skilled guy seems like a win |

I wasnt impressed with the 7.5 per.
But I later realized it was a 6.9 cap hit.
Only 400g's more than I was hoping for.
So not bad. |

Nylander has been great for the past 20 games, and has looked good as a center. Give him at least one player better than Marleau/Brown. |

I think it's fine to criticize Leaf management as long it's objective, constructive, and educated. There's a lot of hate for Leaf Management based on Dubas' age, or minor deals. People get their nuts in a vice because the backup goalie isn't very good. There is a management team at play, and we can criticize them, but they have been making well educated and well considered moves. Before I jump on the moves, there's usually a good reason for them.
There's nothing wrong with Nylander's contract. He's very young. When he gets mad, he gets more engaged. The same can be said of Matthews. They need to get to that place more and be more engaged. I think they will. |

Nah, terrible signing heβs obviously not going to be worth his contract because Iβve been to the future .. I also saw Marner sign an offer sheet with the sens |

Nylander is/was a 5 million dollar player, coming off entry with zero leverage. Dubas caved. Matthews also is not worth more than JT, actually less. Cap is (frank)ed going forward. This is the best year in terms of competitiveness so I will enjoy it, because the cap tear down begins in the summer and management did nothing to prepare for it. |
