Where does Skinner fit in though? That is going to be the question there. Hyman, Johnsson, Kap, Nylander, and Marner on the wings as is.... unless you drop Kap or Johnsson down to 3rd line?? Nylander would have to cover the 3rd line center then?
- Roadrunner75

Yes, I’m one to believe that Nylander is better as C.

I’m fantasy dream land Kadri/Z is sent to to CBJ for Nuttivara. Plus whatever pick makes you happy.

Skinner is signed 7x7

How’s that for an off-season with a cap strapped team?

Nylander has looked awesome the past 20 games

Don’t get too invested in looking at points. 40 games is an insalney small sample size especially considering Nylander was out of shape for 10 of them.

Totally. Thats is why I said he got this deal after not going into the corners, not back checking (he's a smidge better at that now), and being invisible in the playoffs. It's stats that seem to be used by others to justify these contracts, and they do play a major role, but at the end of the day, I would take a guy who scores less points, and hits and works hard and plays well in the playoffs.

So a player that is cheap because he sucks in the regular season and has a miracle bull poop luck of a playoff run?

I’ll take the more skilled player any day of the week.

Why be skilled when you can be known as the hardest working team in the league.

Detroit works hard every time they play the 'skilled' Leafs

I was listening to spittin chiclets with Brent Burns.

He said when he first started in the league the coach asked him what he’s good at. He said “ I work really hard”

The coach said “if you want to make it in this league find something else. Every player in the NHL works hard.”

People love to overeact over one season or playoff run.

Ffs the NJD went to the finals because of bull poop luck and then missed the playoffs the next season.

They had another lucky season last season.

It’s the NHL. Luck plays a big role in it.

No, I don't think Hymen sucks. poop Ennis is more of a workhorse than Nylander and he can score. Kap same thing, Johnsson. Skill without will is meaningless, thats why there are plenty of guys who just never got it done when it mattered, in every sport.

Babs would disagree. Hell, look at the Oilers most nights. Plenty on floatation devices that don't like to play physical in the NHL.

Someone has to get it done. Someone has to not get it done.

In fact 96% of the league doesn’t get it done each year.

Not opposed but also think we need to upgrade the defence too and only so much money to go about too.... will be interesting to see what they do that is for sure.

Working hard is a given.

Every NHL player works hard. We don’t see that aspect of the game as fans. Practices, preparation, commitment. It’s the stuff we don’t see as fans.

Just because a player is physical it doesn’t mean he works hard. It just means he plays physical.

At a full season pace he is an 11 goal, 34 point player currently. Actually 5 million is generous at the moment. 20 and 60 is 5 million. Who is paying 22 years old 60 point players 7 million that set this precedent?
- aminnes

I think Ehlers and Gaudreau set the precedent on this one. they were signed 1 and two years prior, respectively. so cap hit% relative to cap is very similar.

Yes but, being a good GM is understanding what potential your players have going forward.

So what are you saying? Nylander doesn't have potential going forward? He's peaked already?
