You know that allot of people on this site are not happy unless they are unhappy. From 2008 to 2016 the Hawks were the best team in hockey, they won 3 cups yet the doom and gloom on this board would make one think they were a bad hockey team. Some posters were more focused on Dale vs. Stan, Q hating kids and not being able to coach a good powerplay, on the Meddling McD, they hated Chelsea Dagger as the post goal song and they couldn't stand the damn anthem singer totally oblivious of the best years in Blackhawk hockey history.

Too true. I bought in somewhat to this team being a one and done Cup winner, after early exits in ‘11 and ‘12, but the amount of people that discounted them in ‘13 before a single playoff puck was dropped was laughable. I think some finally bought into the team after the 3rd Cup win and sadly for them the ride was over.

Hank, why would he come here? The joint is run by Jabroney's.

Because I have to think that Karlsson would love to play with Kaner and Colliton is all about offensive defensemen. Plus he played for Ottawa so anything is better than that

Only other decent free agent dman is Gardiner and I am still not sold on him despite the impressive year he is having.

As long as you have Brent Seabrook playing over 14 minutes a night, you are not a playoff team. He cannot keep up with any NHL forward and especially playing a Man-to-Man Defense scheme....he is positioned to fail.

Duncan Keith is still a solid 2nd pair guy (Most nights). But Hertl dancing him like a cone last night shows that he is no longer an Elite 1st pairing dman.

Foley was right, Kane is being overplayed. There is NO REASON to be triple shifting your 30 yr old to the point where he has no legs. The season is over. I'm back with Simple Jack, Team Tank!

that needs to stop now...he has been pushing kane's minutes since he got behind the bench..

try something different...the shoot out/outscore them style ain't working...

can they at least try a defense 1st mentality for a few games

If the Hawks are going after Free Agents, it's better for they spend the $11M or $12M that Karlsson will command on 2 or 3 solid players don't you think? Gardiner and Karlsson aren't the answers. They need at least 3 defensemen, a goalie and 3 or 4 forwards. I'd prefer they stay away from Free agents untill they have a most of their lineup identified.

I'm sure nobody would have been female doging about not trying to win if he didn't play Kane enough....

I suspect he and Kane have actually talked it over, too.

Kane had no legs/jump in all 3 California games. And, unsurprisingly, as soon as Kane stopped scoring over 2 PPG the Hawks lost 4 of 5.

Under the current approach sans rebuild, Hawks will never be in that position. This "re-tool" guarantees mediocrity.

Looks like Rockford gave up 246 goals in 16/17 under Dent, and 234 in 17/18 under JC. Very middle of the road compared to rest of league and not a lot of improvement.

Was it legs/jump, or has his hockey savant, calculator-for-a-brain self figured out that the season is a loss and he's visibly reacting to that? He is an emotional guy and that's what makes him so good, but when he's upset, that's also very obvious. Happened for much of last year after he lost Panarin and Crow went down.

ETA: No blame at all. I find it completely understandable after he all but carried the team into the playoffs with help of a few notable others on the team.

Not what I said. I said that if he weren't playing his big boys big minutes, some on this board would be female doging about that. I also said it's likely he's talked it over with Kane.

I'm with you there. I think a "from the ground up" rebuild is the the quickets way to be a contender again. The current core are too old and won't be productive if and when the Hawks are contenders again. But going out and signing UFAs is worse than retooling on the fly.

He is still competing for mvp, that's something to fight for. Kane is good, but Dillon was better. Kane and Adb were both threats on last night's pp with multiple near misses. Kane has never been a defensive threat, he's always been the carrier, set-up, offensive scoring threat. Idk if it's a lot of minutes logged under JC, a losing funk that put a fork in playoff hopes, or what.

Well, maybe a couple less. Last time it was like 45 years between Cups, and it is clear from reading here that the Hawks are run by marketing people, can't draft worth a darn, couldn't develop McJesus if he fell into their lap, have no idea what type of system to implement in today's NHL, and hire a total imbecile to coach the team. As soon as the players gifted to Stan are spent it's gonna be a long dry spell. I mean even if McD throws Stan in the garbage, he'll just hire another yes man idiot to replace him, because he wouldn't know a hockey guy from Elbows, ffs.

Kane has always gone through these periods where he floats more than usual. Very irritating to watch. Hopefully he gets it out of his system quickly.

Here's another possibility - nobody plays to that level continuously. Maybe he's just off a really hot streak. It happens.
