Nobody on the point has a good enough shot. No one causes a disturbance in front of the net. You know the shot is going to come from Petey or Brock who are standing still. it is not Brain Science

But that’s what Washington does. Everybody knows the puck is going to OV but the opposing team can’t do a thing about it. Caps have the 9th best PP and yet the most predictable.

I would be happy with a defenseman that can get it on net...problem is, we have 1 or 2 players willing to crash the net for a rebound, or even an attempt at a screen.

Maybe Newell would like to assist Tortorella in Columbus to be close to his nephew? The guy is a relic here. Just wasting space.

And Eriksson is just an anchor of a player, truly the summation of Benning's boneheaded moves. Jim's a great scout and drafter of talent, but I don't think he should be given access to the Aquilini's debit card on July 1st.

Eriksson, Miller, Guddy. All examples of bonehead signings.

Thank you for the update. As you know I was half joking. I tried to watch Soccer but could not stand the diving and the officiating. Just not my Cup of Tea.

When you get the chance I would like to hear your opinions of this upcoming summer. Do you see them making a big signing(s) or trades?

Do you see guys like Tanev and Sutter being moved ? Thoughts?

Yeah, I know, but I complain about that stuff too. I watched the Toronto FC game on Saturday morning to get in the mood and it was non-stop falls and fouls. By comparison, the Whitecaps game had a good, steady pace with minimal whistles and even a good number of goals, even if the visitors went home with the 3-2 win.

I'm not rushing to worry about summer yet. I have a lot of blogs to fill after April 6, so I'd rather talk about games while we still have games

One thing I will say: with lots of cap space and lots of big UFA targets available, I do expect Jim to try to go big-game hunting. The Canucks even have the picks available to be an offer-sheet team if they really want to stir the pot.

The Caps have 5 legitimate players on the ice who can shoot the puck, we have maybe 3...big difference.

They also have Tom Wilson in front of the net blocking vision. They also have Carlson and Niskanen on the point who can shoot the puck and they have Backstrom Oshie and Kuznetsov as other options.

We know the puck is going to Brock or Petey on a poorly executed PP

I was a fan of Gudbranson at first, but it became clear this season that he wasn't committed to being here.

His vast shortcomings on the ice could have been overlooked if he brought a consistent physical presence. He didn't though. He looked like he was just collecting a paycheck some nights, and now the penguins will see the same thing. When they interviewed him in Pittsburgh after his first practice he sounded like a broken record, repeating the same drivel he did here.

Any particular player you have in mind on this one Carol.
It might be an interesting option, as the draft would already have taken place, so it would be for picks after this upcoming draft.

There's are reason the success rate is so low, plus I really don't think JB has the stones for something like that, and stuff.

Yet OV has 15 pp goals and the rest of the team has 27 combined. Only 3 pp goals from the entire defence.

I know what your saying but it’s as predictable as ours. I think it’s just better organized and executed.

Winnipeg have 26 mil in cap space with 11 players signed. They need to sign Laine Connor and Trouba .

A 7.5 mil OS for Touba would cost a 2020 first second and third.

It is about the motion on the PP, Canucks players are stationary and Caps players are constantly in motion.
All 5 caps players have speed and quickness, we have 2 players like that.
Caps players are all good passers and shooters Canucks players are not nearly as good...at least not yet.

Trouba is over-rated.

I agree with you a Rueben but I just don’t think “predictability” is the issue.

All power plays are kind of predictable.

I don't mind an over rated Dman that puts up 35 points in 64 games.

Exactly....it’s about puck movement and deception. The reason guys like OV and Laine are so open on that left half wall is because the other four guys are moving the puck so well the other team starts collapsing on them and boom a quick pass to OV for the one timer.

Probably turn into a Justin Shultz and turn his career around.

Like I said Dmen play a lot better when the puck is in the other end.

I think your motion comment is spot on and that can be fixed by better coaching. IMO speed on the power play is not nearly as important as speed during 5x5.
