If you score short handed, you deserve a +. If you give up a goal on the PP you deserve a -. Generally 5v5 +/- is only used when people are trying to cherry pick their numbers.

No... 5v5 is a pretty good way to evaluate a player. It's also the biggest sample size of any of the subsets as well. When you need the other numbers that is how you give birth to the power play specialists or those grit and leadership PK players.

You realize you don't get a + for scoring on the PP, right? If someone is good or poop in a subset of the game their numbers should reflect it. Not sure what it has to do with grit or leadership?

I can't think of any more lines that wont get me banned XD. Been awhile since I've seen this bit.
