Good thing the Pens came out like they did because man did Habs come storming back. The Pens really got worked after since the first PK.

Been trying to focus in on him this period since I was too drunk last night to really make a good assessment on how he did.

He’s looked fine to me tonight so far. Only one shift stood out to me as particularly negative where he allowed two Habs to jump him and force a TO in open ice in our zone. Gotta make a decision quicker than that. Other than that he’s plaid a boring but sound game. Had a pretty good opportunity from the point to create some offense that I liked.

I will also say that Gudbranson doesn’t do the infuriating thing that Johnson does where he chaises guys behind the net. Seems to be able to play with the rest of the unit much better in his own zone than JJ, which is great.

Other than one specific breakdown I remember from last night, he was good then too.

With the score as it is, the Pens should be trapping things up the rest of the game. They're giving Montreal far too much freedom in the neutral zone. I don't understand why we don't do this more often. They did it both cup runs. Just sit back and counter attack. They'll eventually catch the Habs in a mistake.

Pens need to start the 2nd how they started the 1st. The Habs worked the poop out of them. Four shots is pretty terrible. They can't sit back.

The ability to produce on either wing is very underrated and Jake can do just that.

I have no idea if this is good news or bad. I was hoping for DeSmith honestly, but I'm not sure either is any good.

Murray has a .927 sv% since Dec. 1st. That’s pretty solid.

It would be nice to see Phil get off his skid.

If he makes that save, nobody is thinking he robbed somebody....so yeah, I think he needs to make it. Of course I recognize the slop play in front of him. In that situation, he needs to bail them out. JMO.

Get Price the (frank) outa there!

Jake is officially a 30 goal scorer and 60 point dude. Pretty much all at even strength. Has a realistic shot at 40 goals and 30 even strength goals. Dude is a legitimate star player in his own right. His contract is gonna be great for us.

If they ever do move Phil or Hornqvist and Jake gets that top PP spot, imagine what a bargain he'll be then.

While the Pens have done a stellar job of keeping the Habs to the perimeter this game, he's bailed them out a few times in this game.

Yes. He’s gotta get going. The only time I’m noticing him it’s not for a good reason

The bigger thing to come out this other than the PP is Geno keeping his cool.

48% out of 200 or so NHLers say Sidney Crosby is the best NHL player, Mcdavid next at 25%... and people thought still calling 87 the best, was out there!
- nelson911

Crosby has taken a step back offensively, but his defensive game has more than made up for that IMO. He's one of the best in the league at both ends of the rink. Honestly if he was a dominant PP player this wouldn't even be close because at ES nobody is near Sid's level.

It would have to be Hornqvist. I don’t think G would excel in Phil’s slot being a left handed shot. I’d mentioned it before but I’d like to see if they could replicate Washington’s triangle on the other side of the ice to open up Geno for the one timer.

Drouin skating with the puck is fun to watch.
