I hate the spin job..."the compete was there".

BOTTOM LINE---this team sucks. Deal with it.

More importantly that annoying little winning streak might have cost us a chance at the #1 pick

Hopefully we still end up at least somewhere in the top 5-6

Sharks are just a better team. They win the majority of one on one battles and all 5 guys on the ice hustle and play defense all game long. The Hawks forwards get beaten back into our d-zone all game long - how many times did you hear Foley praise a Hawks forward for a good hustle play on defense - versus how many times did he praise a Sharks forward for a good hustle play on defense? Night and day. The Hawks get a good defensive play from a forward every once in a while whereas the Shark forwards are consistently working hard on defense.

And then there's the difference in d-men. Dillon shuts down Kane all game long - do the Hawks have any d-man capable of eliminating an elite opposing forward for an entire game? And don't say Keith because he's not that guy any more.

Not one game left on the schedule can even be lightly penciled in as a “Hawks should win this one”.

Giving up four plus goals per game versus 3.25, and the scheme and players responsible for it suggest the coaching change was a failure.

So, lets hope they keep failing all the way to the lottery. It truly is the best thing they can do now.

They only have seven legit NHL forwards and like one and a half legit NHL defensemen.

Losers of 4 of 5 (and that fifth one a last minute victory,) this team isn't going anywhere but down in the standings.

Since Kane sux so bad, maybe JC should go with Toews, Kunitz, Kruger on line 1.
Unbelievable !!

- Hawkytalk

Kruger and Kunitz probably have big bonus money in their contracts for 5 goals in the season so JC decided to try something to help them get it.

Maybe Colliton should just play him the entire game !!! WTF. If you call his game below par tonight, you're a tough one to please.
- Hawkytalk

I am - especially on a player that we were saying should be MVP.

If we call out the Stromes, Gustafssons, Krugers, Seabrook, Keith’s when they don’t play well - have the call out the superstar when he misses expectations by a lot.

35 goals over the last 7 games...5 GA/gm

so what happens now:

1. another complete implosion over the next 9-10 games
2. somehow score 5 or 6 a game to win a few
3. keith and seabs find the fountain of youth

Jeremy Colliton: "We looked like a hockey team tonight, which was a difference from the night before. ... If we would have played tonight like we did last night, we would have gotten embarrassed. So I was pleased that we came to play."

some truth to this but when "coming to play" is your positive in a 5-2 loss...WTF its game 66 where they didn't come to play for 2/3 of those

Is that what your boss expects you to say

Come on now. Of course you are correct but you cannot actually say this aloud when you are the coach. Well most coaches wouldn't. Ditka would though.

How about Kunitz has had a better game than Kane - the latter with failed clears, a lazy penalty....
- StLBravesFan

It was actually better than just a lazy penalty - dude gave up playing when it got called, despite still needing to get possession to even have it called --- ended up as a goal on the delayed penalty --- nice loss of focus there.

Just got back from the game, and needless to say I was pretty pissed to see Kunitz on the top line. Few observations:

- Anisimov played well and is under appreciated on this board.

- Murphy is a keeper.

- You really can't appreciate how much energy Kane conserves floating through the neutral zone and half heartedly swinging his stick at the puck in his own zone until you see it in person.

- Seabrook couldn't complete a phucking pass if his life depended on it. He's done.

- Strome will be a stud if he works on his skating and puts on 10 lbs. of muscle.

- Perlini has all of the tools, just no idea how to use them.

- Witnessing the tire fire in the Hawks' zone is even more stressful in person than on television.

- It's funny to watch the Blackhawks coaching staff gingerly walk along the boards to their bench on a fresh sheet of ice.

What exactly are the rules for the lottery portion of the draft? Is it the five worst teams in the league? Just checked the standings and it looks like this team is right on the bubble .
Does anybody have a projection of the top 10 players eligible for this year’s draft?
Dylan Sikura is this year’s Drew LeBlanc, another bust.Forsling is overvalued also,
Stanley you got your work cut out for you this spring and summer, another bullpoop year next year at this time then it’s about time that you should be cleaning out your office also.

Would it make much difference if Rickfird Icehogs dmen were recalled since the current group has been particularly abhorrent lately? Not really wanting to throw the rookies to the wolves - even the AHL Wolves would devour them if Colliton had this set of forwards playing the man to man.

Maybe the players just do not like man to man. More likely the players aren't well versed? Hard to figure out when you have a bright young coach and other NHL teams play the same defense. Obviously any schemes not executed properly can look quite bad...A training camp worrh to unpack and improve their performance of Colliton's defense.....not convinced the players are buying into it or just not good in it.

Meanwhile the Icehigs off an entire week so they might be a tad rusty.

I passed out when it was 2-2. Maybe my body was telling me I wasn't going to want to see the rest of that game and then head to work on limited sleep.

That win streak was fun a little while ago, but the walls are closing in on the Hawks now. I think the loss to the Kings was the nail in the coffin. Last night was a loss against a Cup contending hockey team. Those are going to happen. Losing against the worst team in the conference was a real killer.

Oh well, lets enjoy the last 16 games and see what we have for next year.

You are in the NHL, you would think a building could have direct access to the locker rooms from the benches. It's like a beer league building when teams have to skate off the ice to the locker rooms.

They need a Ron Santo doing his victory leap going off the ice after a win.

I bet Bettman does it just to upset the Blackhawk coaches and to throw the team off their game cuz, you know, the league hates the Blackhawks.

yea, right. You have to wonder why the league approves of these buildings that have to be configured this way. It really does look minor-league.
