I'm guessing pegulaville wants the Oilers to acquire more points and eventually pass us in the standings.

Thus giving the buffalo Sabres a better draft position/ odds for the lottery

Stats are only worthwhile when the support the sbroads narrative.

ERod has 8 goals - one more than Tage - 4 of them in one week in January - and playing primarily with the same players.

- Der Kaiser

Erod is also turning 26 in a few months and has played against men for 6 years. Not defending Tage by any means as he has not been good this year but just putting things into perspective. Tage has potential, it’s up to him if he fulfills it.

Yeah, I misattributed a broader narrative to what he was saying.

I'm so over tanking. I don't even want to read the word anymore.

I want the Sabres to win. Although,

It is fun to go into the lottery draft with a good %, the draft itself and then harbor center camp when we have a new high pick.

We've shown great improvement this year. Another good player regardless of draft position is a must.

I don’t know what this has to do with anything

Erod had 2 goals in what? 37 games? People were reacting similarly to him how they are Tage now

Victor Olofsson scored his 21st goal of the year tonight.... he also has 26 assists 47 points in 52 games (Nice)

Nylander has scored 26 goals in three years in the AHL. 10, 8, and 8 this year.
he does have 54 assists in these three years as well. 80 points total.

If it was an option I’d have rather kept Guhle and traded Nylander

In every universe Tage is supposed to be the better player, and he hasn't been. The fact it's even close is very worrying. ERod is an undrafted free agent signing. Tage was a first round pick, and that's not even taking into consideration that he was the main piece in the ROR trade(that's Fitz's job), if you include that it's terrible.

I update that previous post too.

yeah he sure is looking like a complete bust, I just hope we can trade him for something this off season but he not having a very good year again this year.....

the great news is its looking like olofsson should at least provide some need scoring even if it's only on the 3rd line. But he might turn into a top 6 forward.

I don't need them to lose more games to gain a spot in the draft order. The distribution of players is such that they're all about the same from pick 4-15 as far what the player ends up being. But inevitably Captain, or Captains Hindsight will come in and say "we 'could of' gotten X player at that spot, but won a meaningless game at the end of the year!" without taking into account that the extra game could've been won in the first week of the season, points are points. So if you want to blame anything, blame the streak, not a March game against Ottawa.

Im not very high on Tage, he's played two years in the NHL (about 50 games each year) and he hasn't done much either year.... 9pts and 11pts .... Blaahhh.

looks like Tarzan plays like Jane...

Agreed!!!! if they could get lucky and get a stud this year and just sign one good player and anther decent player we would be much better next year.

do we really need to worry about this though, they have sucked since the streak... doubt anything changes the rest of the way... if we end up in the 5-10 range and somehow get to 3 in the draft its a complete win at this point.. and even if they don't move up and they find a guy that can be something other than a 3rd line players we win again.

I'd love to see them run the table and get into the playoffs, I just don't see anything that says they can win anything close to enough to get there.

I gotta believe that if olofsson scores 30 goals in Rochester this year, he will most likely get a chance in buffalo next year.... Well unless Phil is still the head gum chewer. than he will play on the fourth line

I think we all agree on this one!!! Some guys there are hope for, other's COULD maybe stay but I just went with what I felt where guys that were more established or the upside was bigger (mitts as an example).

I'm sure others will not want some guys, and add others and that's fine...

I think what this REALLY shows is we have A LOT of spots still to fill STILL, either by vets, draft choices, or someone from Rochester. Not sure how long it will take before we can pull this off, but I sure hope the number of open spots, dwindles this off season.

- gordong

I think we have a good group to build from though
If Mitts turns into what we all think he could be, this team could take a big leap
If we had a legit 2C this season,
we’re in the playoffs
I have no doubt about that at all

Get that 2nd line contributing
And throw out a 3rd line with E Rod at Center- then fill in the wings with whatever kids are playing well (Tage, Smith, Nylander, Olofsson, etc etc)
and figure out the freaking PP

And we become a team that Tampa, Boston & the Leafs start to get pretty nervous about

Especially if we can add another legit winger to the Top6

The thing i really didn’t like about the Nylander pick (besides we should’ve taken a defenseman)...
was that he was a “playmaker” type forward & not a goal scorer

I just don’t understand drafting pass first wingers
Not that high in the draft anyways

Good job Housley...keep boring them on the sidelines so they fall asleep when they play. What a great coach for tanking. I really do not see them winning another game the entire rest of the season. They just don't have it and they just don't care.

With respect to Tage, Sabres should be looking to either:
A) trade him before his value pluments any further
B) send him to Rochester for serious development
It is very obvious what ever this current Development Plan playing on the "3rd line" for 11 minutes in the NHL is, well it isn't working...in fact it is working against him.
He has serious work to do before he busts out.

He has now played roughly 100 games, and looks like he needs 2 seasons of grooming in the AHL for his game to come around.
-Yes, he is young ... many, many fine players are young. He is not improving.
-No, he hasn't played with the best players. He hasn't earned it, period. His game reflects his skills...very raw and requires significant refinement, development.
-Yes, he is big, and you can't coach 6'5" size...who gives a crap if a 6'5" player cant use the natural guft he was hiven...he plays like Bambi...shows absolutely zero natural inclination to mix it up, to use an attribute to his advantage...a sin really.
-Yes he has a hell of a shot...and the boards get punished as a result of his incredible inaccuracy
-Yes, he is fast...skates well in a straight line...then gets list when the opposition changes direction, his skating needs incredible work.

This experiment of trying to develop him in the NHL should end now, or trade him.

- IonSabres

I take it back

THIS... is the Post of the Day
Fair & accurate

Tage is young & absolutely could get better
But I’d have included him in the Montour trade instead of Guhle
Or would be more than ok including him in a similar type deal this offseason

He should absolutely be sent to Rochester ASAP to work on his game either way

No, the whole point of rooting for them to lose so they can gain an extra spot or two of draft position. And I'm done with that, you have to transition to winning, and rooting for winning at some point. There is no evidence that prolonged losing gets you anything but more losing.
