I wouldn't be surprised if Boston did well post season. Last season they transitioned to a team with good players all different age spectrum, notably young and old example McAvoy & Chara (yes Chara still has value. Btw E Kane engaged Chara last night and that was a mistake)

Anyway just WOW Richardson on Phoenix four goals vs Vancouver playing on a line with Panik and Vinnie. Each having a big points night. Did Tanner say Phoenix will make playoffs,? The big night is comparable to: Anyone see Mulvey score five - I was at that game.

I'm pretty sure he would have to reach RFA status before a team can present him with an offer sheet and that won't happen until July 1, 2020. Stan has between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 to get him re-signed before an offer sheet is a possibility.

Oh yeah, I knew it was next summer. Just wondered if he would end up holding off and thus open door for teams to approach with the offer sheets. If he continues on his current trajectory, his asking price could be pretty high and with Keith/Seabs still on the books + 19 and 88, and the need to potentially find a starting goalie or at least a 1A, Stan may have to do some serious juggling or assessing before signing him..

One thing I think:

A team must have its own picks available for the compensation, not another team’s pick acquired in trade.

But - if a team has traded its pick away, it can re-acquire that pick.

(OK - two things.)

But other factors factor in:

I would think the offer would have to be in the $8MM plus range for the Hawks to let him go - meaning two first plus coming back. And the offering team must have the cap space available.

Meaning the offering team is probably not now a Cup contender. Would a rebuilding team give up so many picks for one player? And would someone worth $8MM plus sign with such a team?

All just speculation - but I think - given the cap issues and compensation ranges - there are team-building reasons beyond conspiracy and common-courtesy reasons that there are so few offer sheets offered.

It appears that 40 games played is an accrued season. A player is a UFA at age 27, or after 7 years in the league. Joki is 19. If this year counts as a season, he is a UFA after his age 25 season. If not, and assuming he plays 40 games next year, it'll delay UFA status a year.

Maybe the Hawks actually like Joki a lot.....
