Vegas gonna be kind of capped out after they officially sign Stone to his extension for next year and they have to sign William Karlsson still

That trade centered around Brannstrom and his value far exceeds the Isles 1st (even if they lose in the first round) by quite a bit I'd wager.

They should trade him. They will get good value for him and I think a 20-25 goal guy is what he truly is. Let other teams pay for the one 40 goal season with the absurdly high shooting %

TSN was ridiculous on him yesterday. Can he play an NHL game first? Jeez

Sounds like Isles offered Beaivillier and a first for Stone
- Slimtj100

For Duchene, allegedly. Not Stone.

He is a top 10 prospect across all of hockey. Those guys don't generally get traded. I think that's why they were gushing so badly.

From Dreger:

“And maybe the New York Rangers feel the same way, although I don’t know that Winnipeg is going to have a strong appetite to re-sign Kevin Hayes, because they’ve got a boatload of contracts to wrestle with. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Hayes go back to the New York Rangers as an unrestricted free agent.

Not saying they’ll be wrong, but they were saying he’ll be Erik Karlsson basically. But Ottawa did well overall I thought, got decent hauls during a very bad situation

Branstrom was the key. I don't even think Ottawa did that bad in the trade. Maybe could have got a little more knowing Stone was extending, but still not bad.

Hayes is gone. If he goes to UFA some team will offer more than what the Rangers should pay. His best chance of staying was extending him. He is gone, just have to move on

I give Zucc a small chance, but yea I feel the org is moving on more then the player in those cases

Not gonna lie, I’m pretty happy about it. Like I’ve been saying I was done with that whole era pretty much. Hank included unfortunately

I think the biggest thing for them is a clean slate. Hit the reset button hard and learn from your mistakes.

We definitely could have got a haul if Hank waived is NMC plus opened up a lot of cap. Have to respect his decision though, god knows he is one of the few who earned the right to decide his future.

Unless I missed something. Staple mentioned this in his post-deadline article last night:

Of course Lamoriello wasn’t going to outline all the trade talks he’s had the past 72 hours, but it’s safe to say he was in there swinging on all of the big names that moved around — and likely some that didn’t, like the Blue Jackets’ Artemi Panarin. Sources indicated that the Islanders made an offer on Matt Duchene, who went from Ottawa to Metro rival Columbus on Friday night for a 2019 first-rounder, two middling prospects and a conditional 2020 first-rounder should Duchene sign with the Blue Jackets.

The Isles’ offer is believed to have been centered around their forthcoming 2019 first and young forward Anthony Beauvillier, who at 21 could end up with his second consecutive 20-goal season (he has 14 now). That’s no small potatoes, given that the Isles are very thin at forward in their prospect pool.
