I'm glad they didn't. I think he's the perfect #6 defensemen and should still have a role on this team in the future
- bulet13

RH, physical, moves the puck decently. Gets the puck to the net. I would agree, good for the 3rd pair hopefully if a player like Myers can make the jump.

I have a suspicion the Flyers weren't looking to trade Gudas. How many goalies were traded in the last few days? With some players such as Raffl, the return isn't enough to trade him.
- MJL

Well agree in parts.Goalie market properly not there but why swapping Talbot for Stolarz now .Maybe also Raffl was no trading chip in Simmonds deal scenario and
Raffl - Laughton - Hartmann looks like a very solid 4th line to me ( with 3rd line potential ) Gudas as only righty was clearly not a moveable part

I don't know what will happen with Raffl but Hartman gives them some depth and maybe a similar player to Raffl that is younger.

I would take Hartman and a 3rd over a 2nd.
- jmatchett383

I'd prefer 2nd. Better chance at a quality player. Players like Hartman are a dime a dozen every FA.

Here is the UFA list for RW for next season. Point out which players that are similar to Hartman that you can get for the same cost?

If you drafted a player like Hartman with a 2nd round pick you made a solid pick.

I’m not familiar with the two players Vegas gave up for Stone. Using our farm/team, Can anyone tell me what a similar package from us would be like?

Brannstrom is going to be very good, potentially great. Lindberg is a 3rd line depth guy.

It’s odd that a lot of teams didn’t match this offer. Doesn’t seem like a lot plus him being locked up. Makes you wonder if we could have done it for Ghost+NAK/Rubstov + 2nd

I thought it would be tougher for you than that with your liking for Stone lol. Idk if I would have done it was just stringing together a similar or comparable deal.

i think brannstrom is regarded more highly than Sanheim as a prospect,

but i think the closer deal would be Sanheim + laughton + 2nd

he was willing to re-sign in vegas. read the 9.5 he is getting is like 13.4 in ottawa because there is no state tax in vegas/nevada

Ghost is older than Brannstrom i think Ottawa really looks at EB as an EK replacement down the line. and he has all the potential to be that.

Raffl played only 6 years so clearly still good enough for a one year contract maybe with Flyers after RFA s like Laughton and Hartmann are sorted

It's all about timing. I'm disappointed that Stone went to a team that immediately locked him up. That's a player that I wanted the Flyers to target in free agency if he made it there. For me it's about the timing and what you have an excess of. The timing part of makes you willing to give up a top young player if you feel the add can help you win the cup. excess is self explanatory. Neither is where the Flyers are at. As an organization, the Flyers have had a tough time developing defenseman. We finally have a good group. That position is so important. So important to have those puck movers and players that can make a difference in transition. Flyers have always done well with forwards. As much as I love Stone, just can't move Gostisbehere.

Agreed. It's really hard to justify moving any of the young D men right now. If Myers and Morin impress and Sanhiem and Provy continue to progress I'll consider moving Ghost but we just aren't there yet.

Completely agree about our D core and I really wanna see what we have with evryone now that Myers is up and Morin is hopefully good to go. It’s a damn shame Stone didn’t make it free agency I also would have liked to chase him. Panarin will be the prized trophy now

You know what's going to happen.

Hartman will go out and wreck someone on the Rangers or Pens and we'll all be back onboard.

Okay.

Still has nothing to do with what you said.

It is nice to have some skin in the game during playoff time. It’s no kimmo to Chicago but a conditional 3rd isn’t anything to sneeze at. Go preds!
