a 6'5 50-60 point center, he's a really good player. Kills penalties too. Solid return but not a drastic over payment by any means.

I know this has nothing to do with the trade but what pisses me off is he signed as a collegiate player (like Vesey) for nothing with them. NYR have an absolute horse shoe up their bums!

Thanks. Reading about Simmonds makes today tough. So cool for Benji. Way to shake us from our sadness. That is a great memory!

Winnipeg is going to be a nasty team to play against in the playoffs. Good pick up for them.

If I was good at Photoshop, I would Photoshop simmer over frozone asking "Where is my Flyers jersey!?"

package up Elliot and Raffle, get the best pic you can, take that pic and Simmer and make a bigger splash for a player that will help the chemistry in the top 9.

Honestly I still think there's a chance simmer doesn't get traded.
- bulet13

With this club, there is definitely a big chance of making that mistake.

That might work if Simmer wasn’t going to a contender which won’t want it trade a key piece

Ghost-Myers struggling so much in limited 3rd pairing minutes was no surprise after Ghost had recently been the weak link on a pairing with the reliable veteran MacDonald. Now Gudas is back, Ghost can take his rightful place in the stands as a healthy scratch.

I too will miss Simmer when he's inevitably traded today. Class acts like Wayne Simmonds are few and far between and are sadly becoming a rarity in this era of professional athletes getting paid more money in a season than most of us will make in a lifetime. He is a true heart and soul player and would have seamlessly fit into any era of Flyers history. I think he and Kimmo Timonen were the last of the true Flyers old school hockey warriors that we've grown to love over the years. Although trading him is the smart and proper move to make, he will be greatly missed.

This is perfect, thanks for typing it up.

Everything about it sums up what I'm feeling towards the Simmonds scenario.

i'm not in favor of the idea really because I love ghost, but it all depends on the return.

Agreed, smart move is to trade him when his value has never been lower.

I have been a critic of Ghost lately, he did look better in the Pens game. I can see him and Myers making a good pair. I would sit AMAC. When it is AMAC and Ghost it is a disaster, AMAC has not been playing well, when he does that it has a big effect on Ghost, who was struggling more than AMAC. I think Myers skill set is better suited to support Ghost and his shortcomings...

They just gave morning skate updates on NHL Network and they said Simmonds has been told he will not be practicing this morning.

Simmonds and Raffl. That'll be it. Real curious to see where the Wayne Train pulls into.
