Brassard hasn't been good for at least 2 seasons. Why sign him? You want to sign a guy who will be in 30's for most of his contract?
- Elbows15

Brassard is 31 now and has been on the decline for a couple seasons. He's got all of 19 points in 50 games this season splitting time between Pittsburgh and Florida. I don't see any value to the Hawks with Brassard.

I thought he was still overseas, but maybe they just held his rights? I don't have the interest to actually look it up...
- Chunk

Guess he signed last month.

A contract slot is about all the value he has to the Hawks only if AA was going the other way.

I rather have AA than Brassard if the plan is to extend Brassard. Which I don't think Bowman would do.

You learned all that after watching them pretty much out play the opponent and lose 2 close games, where opponents goalies played great?

Happy #NHLTradeDeadline Day!
I'd expect little to nothing from the #Blackhawks today, other than maybe a minor deal to create roster space.

- mrpaulish

After these last two losses, i would agree. Very deflating. Was at the game yesterday and the defense and careless passing is as bad as I have ever seen with this team. They have there moments, but just not a.playoff team.

Murphy had played his off side well though and they're short LHD.

Means they can move Mitchell's rights
or Young Henri for a forward perhaps.

Dougie/Faulk and Keith would not suck.

- fattybeef

Oh how I do much not want either of those veterans. Hamilton is ok I suppose but I am uncomfortable with him. He gets moved by each team - never sticks around long. I get that he is a loner but we do not need his salary.

Just keep Murphy instead. Faulk .....please just to have a veteran. He is offensive and we have lots of kids close to NHL......like the kids in Rockford, Beaudin and Mitchell close too. Faulk is just a bridge until the kids come along. I would rather go with Gus, Koekkoek, Murphy, Keith, Seabrook and a Rockford kid with Dahlstrom as depth. No need to add Faulk. He is not to good defensively.

Who has space to add goalie $ like that ?

Hearing at least one team recently approached the Rangers about Lundqvist, but were told he's still not willing to waive no-move.

Speaking of the canes - for all of you who lament the "one who got away" trade of Danault as exhibit-A of Stan's GM'ing ineptitude - Danault has 41 points in 61 games this season while centering one of the top-2 lines for Montreal. Meanwhile Teuvo has 55 points in 62 games with 4 of those points coming while playing PK. Both trades were bad for the Hawks but I'm putting the Bickell/Teuvo trade as the worst of the bunch.

The TT trade was a cap induced trade so somewhat understandable. The Danault trade was just plain bad.

This. Bad luck that Bickel wasn't diagnosed with MS until he was with the Canes.

Danault trade is probably Stan's worst trade, but it's time to move past this....

He's done well this year.

Problem is Bickell should have never been given that deal in the first place. The Danault deal still makes you want to reach for an air sick bag. The bigger problem with that one is ole Stan failed to get the dman he so badly needed and instead got hot garbage...how good would Danault look on this team right now? Yikes...
