That wouldve been a very big tank move as he's on a 61 point pace over 82 games.....signed for $1mil next year he should be able to get a very nice return either at the draft or 1 year from today at the 2020 deadline, in theory.....
- EnzoD

I remember when Stan signed him and this board ripped Stan to pieces over it. How quickly we forget...

if that's the case that is a idiotic and card to play: played 15 game in year between two concussions; and certainly not in game shape

he will fair no better than delia and ward with this team...

- bogiedoc

Absolutely agree. Concussions tend to beget concussions. Think he should have been sat down the rest of the year and come back fresh in 2019-2020. A hard hit at this time so quickly after the recent concussions could mean the end of his career.

Penguins loading up on all the bad D-men. Hawks could have helped them out there.
- Elbows15

Gudbranson stinks, anothet one of Dale's early 1st round selections. His role will be tp beat the crap out of anybody who touches Crosby.

Worst case here is ending in that 11-15 range which will seemingly eliminate us from a top 5 pick.

If the 2 game loss streak starts the free fall since the dream is nearly over, they might end up better than top 8.

- Popsghostly

Marion Hossa was drafted 12th overall in 1997. Just sayin. You can get a guy and not draft in the top 5.

What did we get for trading Gus? I haven't had the time to check in?

Did he get traded as a defenseman or a forward?

Yes. I am sure that Toews and Kane are disappointed today. With all that Cap space I am sure that some help could have been have been bought in. A lot of players did not move today and could have been had for low picks and 2nd level prospects.
I am not impressed with the return for Stone. The key piece, Brannstrom, is small and scoring at a lower pace per game in the AHL than Joki, the second guy is a nobody, and the 2nd rounder is little to give up even if just for rental purposes.

So long as those automatic deposits keep rolling in every pay period, I'm sure they'll manage to deal with their disappointment

Guys, I just looked at Eklunds "Rumor Chart" and every player on there that was moved before the deadline didnt have the team they ended up at on the probable destinations

Other than creating this website, he is the absolute worst

- nickmo2699

And yet you pay him to read the rumor chart...

Apparently not enough

But why trade him you have him for another year see if he can take another step defensively

Seems some would ge happy with a trade just for the sake of trading.

Cheveldayoff was with Blackhawks as Assistant GM when Hayes was drafted. Obviously not tainted by his decision to not sign with them.
- Justin Lowe

Obviously not. But, Lemieux long term, is going to be a nice rebuild piece for the blue shirts.

Don't have to go back that far. Kucherov - 58th, DeBrincat - 39th, Rantanen- 10th, Barzal - 16th, Aho - 35th, Larkin - 15th, Pastrnak - 25th, Point - 79th, etc. etc. etc.

Plenty of lower picks work out (and top ones who don't), though your odds are definitely better in the top of the draft.

Here is the trade summary for the 8 Western conference teams currently in playoff positions.

C1. Winnipeg - K.Hayes, M.Hunnwick, N.Beaulieu
C2. Nashville - W.Simmonds, M.Granlund
C3. St. Louis - J.Kyrou, M.Del Zotto
P1. Calgary - O.Fontenberg
P2. San Jose - G. Nyquist
P3. Vegas - M.Stone
W1. Dallas - M.Zuccarello, A.Cogliano, B.Lovejoy
W2. Minnesota - SOLD M.Granlund

Stone is the best player in that bunch but every team except Minnesota helped themselves.

Why not play him in goal?

That might help him develop to standards demanded of the board here?

Did you see how he just sat there during the too many men on the ice penalty and Keiths trip. Just shows his low IQ.

Cracks me up when people think money will automatically keep people from feeling bad about something. As if a high salary or windfall turns one into a robot and strips you of any human emotion.

These guys would not be making the money they are or be where they are had they not had very different motivators throughout their lives.

The ultimate irony is if he were traded a month ago, many would have the "tank" they desire so much so they can fawn all over teen age boys as saviors... #Bringbackboybands

My point really is i don't care if they feel bad. They should of taken less money but they didn't and i don't blame them. As much as Kane was talking about Panarin, too bad, Bowman and co are worried about the long term success of this team at least it looks that way, which I'm grateful for.

If Johnny and Patty are sad well guess what, the Stones said it the best, you can't always get what you want

I hope that opposing GM's do not read Hawks fan blogs because I have not seen other fan bases devalue their players more than us. In fact they tend to do the opposite. For example, try reading some of Leafs stuff and their trade proposals.
