Jets lost Josh Morrisey to a shoulder injury last night. 3 of their 6 Dmen now out. Maybe Chevaldayoff will get desperate enough to like one of our defenceman.

Jets could be in touble not looking good at all.

I have a ton of resoect for Brian Lawton
- says Laine maybe in play

BTW - Lawton would make a great GM

- Colbyboy

Maybe he is what Ottawa is holding out for in return fpr Stone.

i don't know DK the stars and aves are also pretenders: stars are getting great goal thending this year that is saving their ass; varlomov and khudoben won those games

the hawks offense had alot of great chances and got stoned where as the hawk d and their goalies poop the ice again...

Throw the Wild in there too. The phrase the "Hawks aren't a playoff team" keeps coming up and seems a bit played out. Are they a contender? No, but this notion that the 8 teams that make it in from each conference are somehow All World and the Hawks don't belong doesn't hold water for me either.

Team wasnt good enough, was never good enough ... from the blueline back.
- RickJ

Agree right from the start didn't think they were a playoff team but it was fun there when they had the streak going, always have to route for the team to win.

OK, enough of your BS. It’s not black and white as you make it.

At the Q firing presser, he could have made a reasonable statement. Something like:

We’re not where we want to be. But this organization is going to do everything it can to improve the team. We think a coaching change is the way to go.

See, that a reasonable statement, that acknowledges the situation, rather than making a statement that’s clearly ridiculous.

question: do you really want to bring crawford to face 40 shots a night...

you back expect him to have a .930 save % which this team needs; he is not in game shape to play every night...

sorry i don't play him

- bogiedoc

Absolutely bring him back. We need to know what we have here after 2 years of this. He either plays out the rest of his contract or we look to move on.
We either have a goalie moving forward or an LTIR to ride out the rest of his deal.

I have no issue McDonough blowing BS in the air, but I also have no issue with people taking him to task for it. But you are right, what he said makes no difference to what happens on the ice.

You could make the case that they lost two games because of a bad 4K pass and a bad TMM penalty (and then a bad defensive play by the two most experienced d-men leading to the 5x3).

I don’t think it tells nearly the whole story, but you could make the case that without those plays they’re get each game into OT and get at least a point and are only 3 points out.

As you say - these Wild Card contenders are al and each flawed in various ways. None are Cup Contenders - each only potential first round stepping stones for the teams that are. Why not the Hawks?

Probably over now, tho....

Not suggesting the Hawks should or shouldn't explore it, but if Laine is in fact available do you trade Kane or Toews for him?

It wouldn't have insulted the fans intelligence, and set McD up as a bold faced liar. So there's that.

we are on somewhat of a roll lately. I think me retracting my claws for both Seabs and Stan have helped remove me from the firing lines in here, though I still like to engage.

But this agreement thing actually isn't impacting me at all, I kinda like it.

Glad we agree that it didn't affect the team. Just angered a few fans who actually take seriously every word said by a sports executive in a news conference.

I am not the President of McDonough's fan club, but what he said at that press conference in no way should impact any of our lives.

And honestly, HOW CLOSE was he to being right? The Hawks until 3 days ago were ONE POINT out of the Wildcard. And while the chances are more remote today, they still have a shot at it. So McDonough stating he thought this was a playoff team isn't as far-fetched as one may surmise.
