CC is back only because it is McD's last card he can play to try and will the team to the playoffs this year.
- Return of the Roar

He’s probably back to let RFD have their #1 goalie back forthe AHL playoffs.

if that's the case that is a idiotic and card to play: played 15 game in year between two concussions; and certainly not in game shape

he will fair no better than delia and ward with this team...

holy poop...that is nutz...

Yeah. The guy is having a career year (shooting nearly 20%) but has not yet ever topped 64 points and has never yet scored 30 goals in an NHL season. Good two way player, but definitely never gonna be a bargain.

Stone would look good on any roster, but that’s not really what they need most anyway. For the same or similar money, I’d rather have another top 4 defender and a solid 3C.
- Ogilthorpe2

They need all of the above. Sack up front, and the 3C and top 4 D guy - or two.

THIS. We're averaging over 3 goals a game over the past 25 or so games. We lose because we give up 4 or 5 due to D and forwards not playing D well.

Where is that Toronto guy that said Marner was gong to sign for $9?

Joki level at 19 years old hes near a PPG in the AHL for the Wolves. 1st Round 15th overall pick in 2017 draft. Lindberg is a solid 3rd liner, and Ottawa's 2nd rounder is essentially a late 1st given they will suck again next year.....
- EnzoD

Boqvist has more upside potential.

I agree with you , but don't you pursue the best player? IMO stone would have been the best free agent hands down. As far as defenseman trouba will be available.

The only teams that could afford all 3 are teams much further from being contenders than the Hawks.

We like our team. - Bowman

This is a playoff team - McDonough

We plan to sign free agents this summer - season ticket reorder solicitation

Which of these are true?

Hawks will be fine in the 5-8 range. There are some VG players to had there. Turcotte, Zegras and Boldy. Any of those 3 and the Hawks might end up with the 2nd best player in the draft.

Right.

But again, the gaping holes on the Hawk roster are too numerous for one guy to tilt the ice enough for them.

Cap management and player development. Do those well and you succeed over the long term. Do them not well and you are here today and gone tomorrow.

Only so much $ available. Better to fill as many holes as possible with the funds remaining. This team has enough star power up front, they need more complementary pieces. Depth is key.

Probably right. They’re likely in the 8th draft slot though. Unless there is another 8 game losing streak in the near future.

I'm guessing CC is back because he's a competitive guy, cleared concussion protocol and wants to help his team win, but that's me.
- Davewn

Correct, although some posters hold on to the theory that McD makes every and all hockey decisions (not Bowman or Colliton) based up on marketing potential.

Not at the contract that he just got. It's great to think about who the Hawks could have gone after, but the reality of the situation is that Seabrook isn't going anywhere unless he wants to. Toews and Kane, same thing. There is only so much money that is available to spend.

I'm happy that they are building this team from the ground up. Moves for he immediate future while giving up high end prospects (and requiring an additional huge contract are only going to hurt this team.

He isn't that good. Granlund is much better
- Elbows15

Fiala should still be cheaper even after his new contract this summer, right? The question is whether or not Fiala plus average player(s) at a cap hit of the excess money is better than keeping Grandlund, who had one more year left on his deal, and who knows if Wild could keep him. Fiala is also about 4 years younger. Is there more upside to come from him, or has he hit his ceiling already?

Having top 3 spots determined by the balls helps 4-10 greatly though.

In reality Stan made his deadline moves early, shedding Rutta, Manning and trading Schmautz and getting Koekkoek, Caggiula, Strome and Perlini.

Then Stan should offer sheet Kapanen at $4 mil.
