who's mortgaging the future?
- Michael Pachla

I don’t think teams will trade good players for Buffalo’s garbage or a bag of Hockey pucks. They want high draft picks and good prospects.

I’m a keep Wilson fan too. He adds depth to our D and he is not the issue
- lulags

Can our GM not make a trade at the deadline that improves our team and does not mortgage the future?

Or do you feel Botts is trash?

This offseason is big don't think we'll see much tomorrow

I think what he's saying is, there could be a trade to be made that, say, includes a Buffalo 1st for a younger player with, say, 3-4 years left on his deal.

Huberdeau comes to mind.

i don't know about anyone else but i'm tired of the "wait 'til next year" approach and don't care if they get smoked in the first round...i'm actually looking forward to a tampa/buffalo matchup as they've got the beginnings of a rivalry going
- Michael Pachla

I agree that Tampa vs Buffalo is turning into a rivalry

Don’t get me wrong, I miss playoff hockey desperately, and LA squeaked in a few years ago and won it all. I only want to dump if the crazy offers come in
- lulags

doubt that happens...beaulieu in a hockey trade, maybe?

who's going to take the Sabres trash?

I know what Buffalo has. I don’t think they should part with the 3 firsts or any high end prospects for a rental. Not this year. If they were 5th or better then I would say yes, not 10th.

what are they gonna trade for stone?...panarin
- Michael Pachla

No clue
I guess it would have to be more prospects
Throw in Wennberg
Maybe another roster player?

I’m good with that. Just no rentals.

unreal what c bus is trying to do

a fringe playoff team that may be going all in and risk losing all 4 of these guys if their 2 and the other 2 do not sign

and to make it worse, depleting draft picks as quick as tim murray

imagine the backlash if they hold the 8th spot and get bounced early by tampa

then again if they can get the 3rd seed in the division they could do some damage

tough call

- homiedclown

It really is. They might have a 1 in 25 shot at winning the cup - anything short of that is going to set them back for years.

The Don you told me I was unreasonable for not liking the ROR trade.
I am unreasonable for wanting Botts to improve our team at the deadline?

Does that not mean you are happy with the ROR trade?

What part was unreasonable?

- sabresfan69

My point was constantly complaining is unreasonable and it wasn't directed at any one poster.

I realize it is a message board and some come here to blow off steam, but it gets tiring listening to same old arguments every day.

I'll continue to watch the Sabres and hope for the best. What I won't do is complain daily about things out of my control. Except for maybe complaining about the angry old men's club on here but only in hopes that one of members learns to relax a little.

How many games has Nylander played for the Sabres? Bring him up for the rest of the year and see what he does. Why not?

He's really in a tough spot, if those trades are all he can make on Monday.

Trading away a few depth guys for picks only forces him to replace those players in the lineup with the successful Rochester guys (and I know we all want to see what Nylander, Oloffson, etc can do), but all that does is deplete the piss out of a team (the Amerks) that has a legit chance to do some damage in the playoffs.

It's like, what's the point?

loved that checking line yesterday...wrote this during the game:

if Girgensons had an inkling of offensive vision he'd be a 30-40 point player...

that line gave the caps fits yesterday and did everything but score

- Michael Pachla

Girgs & Larsson have become useful players now that they’ve been put in the correct role

If effort = goals Girgs would be a 50 goal scorer. He is so farkin snake bitten it’s redicious. Someone feed the guy an open net and get him off the skid

- Michael Pachla

I like Wilson and I like Beaulieu.

Honestly I don't think they are the problem and you wont get value trading them, not to mention Beaulieu is a RFA so we don't need to rush a trade.

I think they sign the two new guys and move the other two for picks prior to July 1st.
