I think we are over-valuing Risto because he is big, skates fast and can play with an edge. On a good team he is not a top pairing defenseman and it wouldn't surprise me if we got better by moving him. His metrics aren't great and never have been.
- Slump Buster

Were overvaluing risto because:

He's tough
Hard to play against
Blocks shots
On pace for 50 plus points
Top 5 in nhl ice time
Big
Fast
Skates with an edge
Young
Has a great contract
Leadership- alternate captain

And your point is? Metrics

He plays against the top players in the league.
Yes, his defense is suspect at times

Most of Brayden’s point totals come from getting fed by Kucherov in the slot on the PP. Point is a good player but Id even argue Barzal is better. Point is not even close to being better then Jack. Could you imagine what Jack would be doing with Kucherov as his RW and being on that Lightning PP ?
- Pegullaville

Decent points,
but it’s not like Jack is playing with scrubs on our PP

I know Point is on a better situation than Jack, and that definitely makes a difference
But he is also inarguably way ahead of Jack defensively
U gotta take that into account too

I still take Jack. Jack can continue to develop a two way game. Point will never be able to do what Jack can do with the puck on his stick.

The 1.7m doesn't get prorated. They can add $7,920,261 of non-prorated cap hits.
- Lunaion

Nice! Probably not Point and if it happens, probably be disapPOINTed. Where u stand on Risto?

Andy Strickland tweeted it this morning. He is a Blues reporter but has strong hockey ties all over the place.

Columbus doesn't have anything else to trade unless you're looking for 2022 and beyond picks.

How about Anderson?

Jack isn't playing with bums, but he sure isn't playing with Hedman, Stamkos, and Kucherov. That's 3 of the top 25 players in the game?

I don't think anyone actually overvalues him.

His contract, though, drives his price up big-time.

5.5 for a PP specialist who gets 40+ points per year? He will be a regular 60-point guy on Tampa Bay, easy.

Arn Anderson? WWE just fired him so he's available for free.

Skinner averaged like 50-55 points before coming here. 36 year old Pominville, Okposo, and Reinhart for a 25 game stretch we’re his options. Our PP is 90% Jack too. Tampa can beat you 5 different ways on their PP. Point is the 3rd option on the Lightning PP.

Cirelli’s strongest traits are his excellent hockey IQ and strong skating. His ceiling is moderate-high, but is capable of becoming an excellent second-line centre in the NHL while earning large amounts of ice-time from his coaches in all situations.

Listening to an interview with a buy from die by the blade, Ristolainen is one of the worst at outlet passes we see sigficsntly less offence with him on the ice. His struggles in his own end are very real.

You need to get more for Risto and Columbus has emptied the pipeline

Risto has a tendency to turn the puck over in his end.
(Often)
His outlet passing is Marginal

If those 2 things were to improve, as well as his -16.

He would be a top 10 nhl defenseman

I see Risto as Seabrook and Dahlin as Keith. I say keep him unless it is an offer u can’t refuse.

If someone wants to overpay, I'd be happy to take advantage of them. Like others have said, he has a lot of qualities that people do overvalue.

I don't want to trade Risto, however, I would love Sergachev.

Cal Foote would be another guy. By all accounts, he might be ready to go next year.

Yes, I agree. Risto has great value.

My point was:
Columbus would have interest in my opinion.
They are "going for it" this year

Josh Anderson is a start. Just a suggestion, more so a response to : Columbus has nothing to trade.

Yes they do- josh Anderson +

Risto is a beast

I hope he remains a sabre for his career.

Fun to watch in person. Adds flavor to the games

I’d be very careful with any deal involving point, not saying he isn’t a solid player but he is playing on the best team in the league with top notch players, is he putting up those numbers with guys like Sheary or whatever wingers we play him with.
Not to mention the money you would have to pay to get him signed.

- Sabres1523

True
He really passes the eye test for me though
Play Skinner with Jack and Sam with Point
I feel like that’s 2 very solid scoring lines

Chances of us getting Point are extremely slim though of course
